Question about Pentair Kreepy Krauly Inground Automatic Cleaner

1 Answer

The suction cleaner moves too slow

Recently my Kreepy Klauly was moving too slow. At first i opened the filter tank to clean out 100%, put the system back but it did not help. So i changed the new cleaner system and i had the same result. My pressure relief valve show 10 psi. I wonder if something wrong to my pump motor or something else. I need all your advices. Thank you

Try checking your pump impeller to see if there is any debris that may be slowing the flow. If your pump strainer basket is cracked or broken, this may very well be the problem.

Kreepy Krauly has very little suction thru head but plenty thru hose

most all pool cleaners generate there motion with a thing called a venturi ! thats inside it usually moves a small propeller from the action of water being sucked hard thru the hose , on most the path to this "propeller" is different than that of pool debris , i suspect this alt path is part ways blocked , a simple way to clear is to connect garden hose to suction port of cleaner and force water Back in other direction other than that sometimes dissasembly is need to lube and clean hidden ports inside

Kreepy krauly regulator valve won't close, it's always open so the cleaner doesn't move. There's plenty of suction,

It has debris stuck in it. Normally it is not too hard to clear it out. If you can't clear it, try to run the Kreepy without the regulator.

Not moving, pulsates slowly

I had a similar problem with mine starting to move and pulsate well enough but then slowing and stopping altogether. back washing the filter solved it. I guess it wasn't getting enough suction as my pump couldn't power through the filter well enough.

K-krawler will either stop moving or when i try to adjust valve it moves very very slow ; i only get it to move at all when the right vavle is almost completley on. i have it set now at left vavle all the...

Check the regulator valve that is located at the skimmer or 1st section of hose from the wall. (Varies depending on model).
The little valve on top of the filter that you mention sounds like the air releif valve. If it hisses as you open it, allow it until you get the steady stream then close it. Air trapped in the tank prevents the filter from working properly. If you get air often, you should check the pump pot lid gasket and be sure to use a water lube on it.

Hi, I also bought my Bull Shark Kreepy Krauly recently - 3 months ago. Since day 1 it liftes up at the end and does not move flat on the surface of the swimming pool. Please assist.

First, check for debris in the pool cleaners flapper. This can cause a lack of suction the floor. Also, check for proper hose balance. If the hose rests at a greater than 45 degree angle, the hose is too light and you need to move the hose weights closer to the cleaner. If the hose rests at a less than 45 degree angle, you need to move the weights away from the cleaner.

I have great water pressure in my pool, but the minute I attach my Kreepy Krawly, the pressure drops and there is a large vacuum in the pump reservoir. the Kreepy hardly moves at all thereafter.

It sounds like your you might not have all of your suction lines closed. Check to ensure that the main drain and all suction lines are closed, except for the suction line to which Kreepy Krauly is attached. If this is not the problem, it could be that the pool pump and filter system that you have may be too small It should be capable of providing at least 25 gallons per minute. These are common issues with these pool cleaners.

If it has never worked properly, it could be that your pump and filter system are too small for this particular automatic pool cleaner. If you don't feel that this is the case, there a few things that you can check. Make sure that there is not debris in the flapper. It could be causing a loss of suction, making the pool cleaner rise off the floor of the pool. Also, check your water flow coming from your return line. It could be too high. You can adjust it with an eyeball diverter if necessary.
