This sounds like a faulty door switch mechanism. Check that the switch is not jammed in injside the receiving end of the lock. it may also be broken and neede to be replaced.

When I turn on my microwave. It sometimes shuts power off. The lights will go off and it will not run. I can unplug and plug it back in after a minute or two and it will work fine.

Sounds like the internal cooling fan may be stuck or defective. This will cause the micro to overheat which intern trips an internal heat safety. Once it cools down it will try to start again and repeat the same problem. Cooling fan is usually near the back behind the control panel.

Well part of what you said does sound correct other parts dont make any sense.. Question one is the unit dead now?? have you checked the outlet for power??
have you checked the internal Line fuse to see if it is good??
Does the unit have power to the control board?? these questions need to be answered before we can move on ..As far as the light issue there could be a bad relay on the ctrl board but kets get the unit up and working first

Frigidaire gallery microwave light stays on and internal fan stays on

Good Afternoon Friend, thank you for your post!

I see that the internal light and fan continues to run on your Electrolux microwave with the door close. This sounds like the issue is related to a faulty door switch. I am fairly confident that an authorized service agent will be able to restore your microwave to its normal operating condition. You can often locate a qualified service technician on the manufacturer website. Hope this helps! - Z

Frigidaire model cfmv156fmc allows programming, lights work but when hitting go wont turn on yet timer is counting down.

If the inside light comes on when you try to cook, but the turntable and internal cooling fan do NOT, then that's a bad bottom door switch or that switch's mount.

See this helpful text file.

If the inside light, turntable, and internal cooling fan DO all come on when you try to cook, but it does not cook, then you have a bad relay or connection on the control circuit board, which we can repair for $39.95. Details here.

We have the service manual and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Model is GE JVM1430BD002. Microwave works but range fan and lights do not. Unit "popped" when fan was turned on one time and hasn't worked since. Is there a fuse or breaker for the range hood functions?

Yes - there is an internal "special" in-line fuse. Most likely it is the fan that has caused it. Clean the fan with switch-cleaner spray and make sure it is smooth running. Replace special fuse with identical version.
Check lights before operation.
Replace all covers before test.

No light, internal fan...then no display

The light isn't a safety issue but I would think that the fan would be.

The fan is designed to remove excess heat from unit and keep it cool. Without the fan, you're now operating the unit under conditions that it wasn't designed for.

With the unit unplugged, try removing the cover and see if a fuse has blown. If so, replace it with the EXACT value of the original.

See if the unit powers up again. Try heating heating up something for 30 seconds to see if the Magnetron is still functioning.

If so, check to see if the bulb is good. Did the bulb and fan stop at the same time? If so, it might be something in common that controls both.

Don't operate it further until you have it looked at. You don't want to cause something else to fail.

Good luck!

Turntable, lights and fan inop

I'm guessing that nothing is working...is that right? If so, first guess is the breaker or an internal fuse. Nearly all units have them. You don't say what fuse you checked. Unplug the unit, remove the bulb and see what is in the socket. Next, open the breaker and then turn it back on. This will reset it. Something caused this.

Mircowave works, exhaust door opens, fan stop working

From looking at the owner's manual, it looks like the vent fan is only supposed to come on when the internal temperature of the microwave gets too high OR when you press the VENT FAN pad. Here are a couple of fan-related excerpts from the owner's manual, which can be found here: http://products.geappliances.com/ProdContent/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SKUOBJECTS&DOCUMENT=Use%20and%20Care%20Manual&SKU=JVM1840BD (or the better URL here: http://tinyurl.com/yn7r6g) Automatic Fan An automatic fan feature protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on if it senses too much heat. If you have turned the fan on, you may find that you cannot turn it off. The fan will automatically turn off when the internal parts are cool. It may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. - Vent Fan The vent fan removes steam and other vapors from surface cooking. Press VENT FAN once for high fan speed, twice for medium fan speed, a third time for low faw speed, or a fourth time to turn the fan off. Press the VENT FAN BOOST pad for extra fan speed. - Hope this helps.
