NO a flash would bleach it out in the foreground and darken the back ground. You would want even lighting across the whole picture to get a nice effect of lights and any still showing clouds being lit by refelection

. Photos like night skies are taken using a tipod and a time exposure setting. The speed of the ISO also helps to set the exposure needed. So lets say you set the ISO to 400 the shutter speed would likely be about 1/30th of a second, depending on the ambient light.

Once you set the ISO put the camera on automatic and let it choose the settings. When you look through the lense make a note of the metering the camera has chosen and write it down for future use when you want to vary it or create some different effects, like using it with a starburts filter etc and raising the EV value 1 point up or down to get more or less lighting or depth of field.

You might want to invest in a Digital photography book that helps you take creaytive pics and get the best from your camera

The ringflash won't fire on this camera.

If the menu item is gray it means that you are in a mode that does not allow you control of your flash. You are likely in an auto mode. Change the mode to Manual, Shutter priority, Aperture priority, or Program.

I can't turn my Palm Centro on this morning - what could be the problem? I was still using it last night.

Try CPR in NYC, they do repairs in house, and usually have them done within a week. You could ship your unit directly to them.
Here is the website:
Hope it helps!

Don't scare the penguins.
Go to flash mode and switch off flash.
Alternatively, you can use manual mode and go for a slower shutter sheep anf full aperture, but this could make the photo fuzzy. U might need a tripod
Another alternative is to use a very high ISO like 800 or 1600. This will make the photo more grainy but if your hand is steady, you might be able to get your penguin.

I droped my camera and now it only take photos in the dark,

The ccd sensor must be broken, you'll probably need a new lens assembly. The repair cost will be halft of what the camera sells for. There is a service that specializes on small consumer level cameras like that : Camera Repair NYC

Nikon S210 flash not working

The flash has been working fine until last night when I tried to take a picture and the flash was set to auto. When I press the button the little red light beside the flash sign lights up, but the camera does not take the photo. When I set it to flash mode, it still won't take a photo. When I turn off the flash, then it does. What could be the problem? Is it in the settings?

Regardless of the camera make/model... dark, grainy photos are usually a result of a lighting problem. Looking at the specs for your camera, the flash is only speced for 4m. If you are shooting near or above this you might have trouble. I ended up using an external flash that is triggered by sensing the cameras flash. Pretty inexpensive and pics ar 10x better. Try a local camera shop or B&H Photo (NYC) is where I got mine set up on line.
