I'm sorry- I thought this was only a Vivitar site- so I just thought you would know :) It's a Vivitar. I don't even see it listed as any of the options on any of the web sites. Thanks

8380 doesn't tell us much. What brand and model camera is it?

Your camera uses an SD card but it can also use a MultimediaCard.

I see two possibilities. Fortunately they have the same solution.
What type and speed memory card are you trying to use? Is the card compatible with the camcorder? Since you didn't specify the model of your camcorder I can't tell you what type of card you need to use, but if the camcorder is designed to use SD cards and you're trying to use an SDHC card then it won't work.
The second possibility is that your card isn't fast enough to record video. There's a lot of data involved in a video clip, and not all memory cards are fast enough to handle it. The situation is much worse with HD video. Again, without knowing the model of your camera I can't tell you how fast a memory card you need.

Memory card is locked

You didn't say what type of memory card so I'm guessing it's an SD or SDHC card since those are the most common. If I'm wrong, please reply to this post specifying the type of the card and/or the make and model of your camera.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

You didn't specify the make and model of your camera, so I'm going to assume it uses SD cards.

Memory locked is displayed on the screen... I tried the switch on the side and still it wont work. Even tried another memory card still have the same problem. How do we fix this. Cam model is power shot...

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". There are also other common causes if moving the slide switch didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

Panasonic DMC-TZ3: one day it's working fine, next it won't power on. Tried the "Power Saver" reset technique posted ... didn't work. Battery is fully-charged.

Try removing the battery and the memory card for 1 minute then return them back. Make sure the battery is inserted properly. If that didn't work, try turning it on without the memory card.

Did you get any error message when you try to turn on your camera?

I have a SDHC 8gb kodak card and am having trouble with formatting it for my samsung sports digital camcorder. The model type on the camera is SC-X300L

If you are unable to format with the camera, please try to find a card reader from a friend.
Connect the card reader and insert the memory card.
If there is no problem with the card, you should be able to see it in My computer, as a removable device.
Just right click on it, click Format making sure the File system is set to FAT32
Now insert the card in the camera and check if it's working.

Hi I have inserted a memory card into my SGH-J700i but it is not recognising it and i cant find out if there is something I need to do to install it, please help. Michelle

Try re-formatting the card on a computer. If that doesn't work try the card in another phone, it could be bad. Hard reset your phone may help as well. Some cards just do not work in some phones...I had a lot of trouble with kingston so I use only sandisc now.

Camera is not recognizing any memory card. The issue is with the camera electronics and not the cards.
