Question about Maytag MZD2766GES Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Ice door won't open

I replaced the freezer door on my maytag mzd2766gew. I had to take the whole thing apart. The water/ice unit, the magnetic seal, etc...I had to rerun the water supply line....you get my point.

After I had everything put back together (whew!!!) it all looked great. New freezer door...no more rust...it was perfect...or so I thought.

Somehow, I must have screwed up the mechics on the way the "door" opens and shuts for the ice to come through.

Of course, the unit still produces ice...but the "door" won't open now...it's stuck in the closed position. Not even sure if I take the whole thing apart, what I'll need to do to get it to work. Any suggestions?

Maytag model MZD2766GEW. The water tube supplying

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Freezer door pops open when the Refrigerator door is being closed

My new freezer did the same thing. I contacted the company and they went into the whole leveling thing. What it has to do with is the magnetic seal. The magnets are not strong enough to keep the freezer door from popping open when closing the big fridge door. They share the same duct. I level my doors on the fridge and freezer so they swing shut by themselves after opening. Just the force of the big door when it swung closed cracked open the freezer door about a quarter of an inch and if left unnoticed created a puddle and made the fridge run overtime. I solved the problem by placing strong magnets inside the fold of the magnetic seal at the handle end of the door. This is the flap on the outside the door seal. I used six magnets on the top and six on the bottom. The magnets were from discarded Sonicare tooth brush heads. They are very flat and super strong. You can find something on ebay. My freezer door doesn't budge problem solved. I did call the company and told them I solved the problem and they still insisted it was the leveling. Good luck, Art Knapp

Maytag plus model mzd2766gew freezer working refrigerator

Hi!!

Check
Temp. control knobs,

Small fan in freezer, it should start working after opening the freezer door for a couple of minutes. If it does not start, use a pen or pencil to turn the blades, if it kick in, replace motor.

Remove freezer back panel (where the little fan is) and check for iced evaporator coil, if so, unplug unit and use a heat gun or hair dryer to melt ice, make sure the air duct going to the fridge is clear.
Once this is done, restart unit

Keep me posted!! Rate this post!!!

My frigidaire refrigerator is sweating on the inside. what should i do? its a one door model with ice maker and freezer on top. i don't remember the model. 5 years old.

High humidly could cause condensation or the magnetic seal could be bad.
A couple of things to try;
The easiest thing to do first is to clean around the rubber seal very good with mild soap and water and the metal which the magnetic rubber seal contacts to seal the door. If you find a crack or a deformation of the seal it will let condensation it the refrigerator.
Does the freezer auto defrost or is a lot of ice bult up around the freezer walls? If so manually defrosted the freezer.
Dripping from the Ice maker water supply?

Our Maytag MZD2766GEW is leaking from the freezer.

Remove the lower panel in the back of your freezer. and see if your defrost drain is clogged. Mine got clogged and froze up. Everytime it went through it's defrost cycle it leaked.
