The bearing or spindle the drum rotates on is probably bad or worn out. You can get to the back and turn it by hand and feel it when you turn it. You can tell if it is metal rubbing. If so, you can replace it.

Your rear drum bearing has worn through the plastic and is now hitting the metal support underneath it,
soon it will act like a guillotine and slice of the ball, the drum will fall backwards into the heating element and short to ground causing the fuse to blow the heater element to burn intwo and the whole thang will be dead in the water.

It sounds like the drum may be stuck. Turn the dryer on with the door open, just keep the button pushed. Then try to turn the drum by hand, and see if it will start to turn.

when you try to start it again do you hear a humming comeing from the motor? can you jump start it by turning the drum while holding the start button? If you say yes to these questions you have a bad motor.

My DLG7188RM runs and dries fine. But every 20 minutes or so while it's simply resting (not in use) there is a loud buzzing noise coming from the back of the machine. It lasts about 5 seconds or so and then shuts off.
Can you help me diagnose this problem?
