Question about Yamaha Audio Players & Recorders
When using remote control to adjust the volume, the receiver displays the action (volume up or down), but the volume and knob actually do not move.

I know this post is pretty old, but I just came across it. I have a GTP-750 that I have fixed. They do run extremely hot which causes the rectifiers in the power supply to fail. I have the rectifier part numbers to fix it as well as cooling method. I have been running mine now for about a year after fixing it sometimes at high levels for extended amounts of time and the case is now barely warm. If you need advice or pictures of my setup send me an e-mail

SOURCE: Won't stay powered on
There is a relay right next to the fuses on the inside dg1u it says on the top. I cleaned it and pressed down firmly on it and it seem to have fixed it. It fired up for the first time.. The relay might need to be replaced if this doesnt work for ya.
I found a solution at: http://www.diyforums.net/forums/domestic-electronics/11098-yamaha-rxv795-receiver-shuts-itself-down-after-some-time.html

It sounds like the volume control pod has gone bad and needs replaced (The knob shaft connects to the pod main body and the inside of the volume pod is what controls the rate of volume,If the inside becomes worn ,broken or dirty the volume will become erratic) Replace volume pod ! ..You may try cleaning by taking off the volume knob and getting a can of pressure air and blowing the dust out!
Please rate response!!

SOURCE: zune and yamaha RX-V663 Receiver
Buy the Zune A/V kit and hook it up to a non used rca port on the back. Look for the older ones for the 30 gb units, they are much cheaper than the new ones and it takes 10 seconds to modify them to use on the newer units. The A/V kit has 3 rca plugs, one for sound and 2 for video. If you pick a source that can play video and sound on your receiver, then the screen on the zune will display on your television. The A/V kit has a remote with it also so you can control the zune from the room. I have not tried it, but since the Zune remote is IR then if you have a good all in one remote, such as a harmony, you may be able to program the codes from the Zune remote into it and even be able to control your stereo and Zune from one remote. Hope this helps.
