Sounds like you have to replace your thermostats in the back of the dryer. Also check to make sure your heating element is good

Few months old WM3987HW won't turn on - seems dead, unplugging and replugging won't work; outlet has power

Hi Rick,

I found your answer to another person's problem with the LG washer/dryer not turning on. We have the same problem. My husband found a piece of plastic near one set of the fuses that looks warped - like it got too hot. Is there any advice you can give? It's a piece next to the box by the main power cord with a metal coil.

Runs for little while then stops and has the code PAU on the display. I tried unplugging the cord, I reset the circuit breaker. Still the same and now it won't even start.

Try taking the control board out and check for burned off traces. Solder back those points and it should work again. Just did it to mine and now it runs again. Still flashes PAU though.

Dryer stop powering on after unplugging the unit and replugging. I got a shock when I did so. Any clue?

Check the back of the dryer where the power cord goes into it and make sure there is not a cut in the cord causing a short, there should be a protective clamp or ring to prevent this from happening but sometime people do not take the time to put them in right. Be careful with it because that is running on 220 and a good shock from that could literelly kill you. So carefully unplug it or better yet turn the breaker off first at the electric panel for it.

Dryer runs intermittently

"Could the cord/plug and/or receptical be bad and need replaced or is it likely to be something in the dryer's internal wiring?"

Yes, that electrical smell and the dryer not working are all signs of a bad motor.

"I noticed that the plug looked like it was somewhat scorched."

I would replace that plug. This is how electrical fires start.
