Question about Acer AL1716 F Monitor

1 Answer

We moved. The monitor was packed well. I'm trying to reconnect it. It goes on, while the pc boots up then, it says no signal, and goes into idle mode. I can't get past the initial boot. It's hooked to the same pc it was hooked to before. Am I missing a step somewhere? Or is there an online instruction booklet I can find? The booklet is what I'm missing.

Check that the cable is firmly and fully inserted into the monitor port on the back of your PC. If you have two video cards installed, use the first one. Try replacing your video card.

My dell 470 wont boot up every thing seems to be working but when i turn on i get a blank screen and no signal displayed Edward

This means that your monitor is not receiving a signal from your graphics card.
Here are the things that you can try:
-Disconnect and reconnect your monitor from your computer.
-Try using a different cable to connect your monitor to your computer.
-Try connecting your monitor to another computer, if it works there it means that there's a problem with your graphics card and it may require a replacement. If your monitor is still saying no signal even if it has been connected to another computer that works fine then the problem is with the monitor.

Monitor goes into instant power saving mode and will not display a picture

I doubt the monitor is the problem. I think your pc is not booting up and sending a signal to the monitor and it goes into that mode because of no signal.
Try a different monitor if you can or take your monitor to a friends house to try it on a different pc.

mdl34, Your monitor is listed as "time to retire" and get new unit on retrevo .com You might try "reseating" all the connections to the monitor and vga connector on the pc. examine all the connector "pins" in the cable connector and note any damaged or bent, crushed pins. Try moving monitor to a "known-good" fully booted pc to see if same problem occurs. Swap-in a good monitor to your pc to prove that pc is operating correctly. 12fixlouie

Screen comes on says Acer then No Signal, and goes out. if shut power off and then back on get same result.

This means the monitor believes it's not connected to the computer. Verify the cables first of all. Then try booting in safe mode (F8 key at PC startup) in order to verify that the PC is sending data to the proper video port (you might have a dual VGA / Digital output, for example, and the monitor might be connected to the wrong PC port). Quite often, a "bad signal" will be the same of "no signal"; and you can have a bad signal if the monitor resolution on the PC is set too high. This could happen if you installed a high-resolution capable monitor, and then replaced it with a not-completely-plug-and-play, lower resolution one. The PC would keep sending hi-res signals to a monitor which can neither interpret them, nor tell the PC "please slow down". To check this last possibility, reboot your computer while the monitor is ON. When PCs reboot, they usually drop back to standard VGA signaling, which all monitors understand. If the monitor abruptly comes to life and displays a boot screen, then goes No Signal again after several seconds, you've got a resolution issue; get in Safe Mode with F8 key at boot, and modify the screen properties (right-mouse button on the desktop, then Properties).

If everything else fails, try also connecting the monitor to another PC or laptop, to see if it works there.

Computer wont boot up

I take it that you are seeing the message "no signal" on the monitor. If this is true, then I would disconnect all the devices inside of the computer case except the CPU and memory. See if you get any video. If you do, then reconnect the devices (hard drive, CD, etc) until you find the one giving you a problem.
If you have done all this and still no video, I would suspect one of two things: Either the power supply or the motherboard.

MONITOR GOES BLANK

Did you recently change or install a program that would affect the resolution and card output? Try booting into safe mode by holding the "shift" key during boot. From there right-click on the desktop and hit 'properties'-> 'display properties' -> 'settings' , check your resolution and drop it to 800x600 and then reboot. If everything goes back in normally make sure you have the right windows drivers for your video card. You can also check the driver version and settings while you're in safe mode. Sometimes the windows update drivers can act screwy and I would recommend getting them directly from your card manufacturer.
