Question about Epson Perfection V700 PHOTO Flatbed Scanner

Open Question

Epson V700 generating scans which look pixelated (for lack of a better term). They have blurry spots on them. I scanned on image and it looked fine then when I placed the second item on the flatbed I get this problem. I have cycled the power and moved to a different spot but still get the same issue

Check if you have a toggle lock at the back of your scanner, when you are facing the back of it, its on the right hand side near the tpu cable. toggle that 3x and make sure it on the UNLOCK position.

SOURCE: Epson V300 Photo Scanner Streak When Scanning Negative

I also own a v300, and I have noticed that I occasionally get rainbow streaks if I bump the scanner at all while it is scanning negatives, so this might have something to do with vibrations in the machine. Is it sitting on a stable surface?

SOURCE: Epson Artisan 800 Scanner leaves blue/grey stripe on side.

I had this exact same issue with two Artisan 800's. I was told it was a hardware issue. Both were returned under warranty to Epson. Have since had problems with ADF and that printer was returned. Warranty has now ended. Expecting to buy a new printer shortly: they last about 4 months before having problems. It won't be an Epson even though that's all I've owned for 10 years

I am using the Epson Perfection V700 photo scanner to scan dental xrays. Sometimes the xrays come out perfect, other times I get streaks across the image. Sometimes the streaks are colored, othertimes...

You have to use the "FILM AREA GUIDE" included with the scanner. This black plastic guide leaves a small area at the top of the glass open so that the scanner can calibrate itself at the start of each scan. Use the guide or leave at least 8mm between the top of your film and the top of the scanner glass.

Scanning problem with Epson/Perfection 4490. Husband scanned something at 3600 dpi and can't reset size. Think pixel levels are too high now to scan and submit pix on ebay and also image that shows up on...

It sounds like your husband chose full scan mode in Epson Scan, the software that comes with the scanner.
To change this:
1. In the top right corner, change the mode to Professional Mode.
2. In the dialog box you will see a resolution selection area.
3. Change the resolution to 300 dpi for Web/Ebay pictures.

Another solution is to change the pictures using a program called Irfanview. It is free. You can open a picture and under the menu item Image, slect Resize. The pixel size of 640 width is good for Ebay.is program.

When I scan colour slides the image gets cropped

Uncheck the option that says "Thumbnail" and draw individual marquees for the area on the slide you want to scan. Not very elegant but it works.

I cannot get clear scans from my photo negatives

If you are seeing pixelation, the issue is either insufficient resolution during the scanning process or a problem with the output device. If it's a focus issue, which will NOT cause pixelation, the problem may be the height of the negative holder. The Epson Perfection V series scanners have a fixed focus point which only adjusts between two settings depending on whether you select the film holders (which raise the film off the glass) or the film guide (which scans film directly on the glass) in the software options. If you are going to scan transparencies or negatives, familiarize yourself with the holder height adjustment issue and be willing to experiment with different height settings until you are getting optimum results. This is not documented much at all in the Epson user manual but there is a little bit about it, including some examples of results at different settings, here: http://www.photo-i.co.uk/Reviews/interactive/Epson%20V700/page_13.htm Apparently every scanner is slightly different so even though the lowest holder foot setting (default) is working best for some, other settings work better for others. On my V700, I have the feet on the film holders set to the highest setting plus I shimmed them with a 1mm piece of styrene before I could get the scans in focus. Once I found the right height though, I've been able to get beautiful scans from this machine. BTW, scanning negs directly on the glass will almost always result in Newton Rings.

Unplug the power supply from the power port on the scanner then plug it back in after a few seconds and power-up if it isn't already on. This happens to me a lot and this works every time. Frustrating though.

Scanning photos

i just had my CCD replaced before my warranty expired in Feb and it worked fine for a week. Now i'm getting a cyan line down all my negative scans. And since you can only scan negatives in one spot, I can't even use a diff part of the scanning surface to avoid this. Sounds like a downright cheap part and definitely can't do the job. Never buying an Epson again, esp since they closed down the repair center nearby.
