I am having the same problem with mine. It starts to make a strange rubble like noise than it says no disc. It plays movies just fine, and sometimes it will play older dvd's that I recorded on, but the ones I have used lately won't work and their the same exact type. I have tried cleaning the discs themselves with a cleaner and have used a dvd cleaning disc in the player. But so far nothing has worked. I have read a lot of bad reviews by other people with these players. Please tell me what I can do to fix this and to keep it from happening again, otherwise I, getting rid of this player and getting a new one

I also am having the same problem. Any DVD I put in, I get the error "No Disc" and as of right now, this DVD player is useless to me. any help in solving this problem would be appreciated !!

I'm having the same problem with mine, and I'm happy to know that it isn't just me. I've had mine for about a year and a half (and have never actually gotten around to setting it up to record). About 4 months ago I borrowed some DVD's from a friend, and she didn't tell me that her husband had bought them blackmarket while in the Middle East with the military. Ever since I tried to play them in my player, I've been having the problem where my player will freeze up after about 20 minutes of playtime (if it chooses to read the disc at all). I am so frustrated with it and I don't know what to do. I've tried cleaning everything, and that didn't help. And of course I don't know where my manual is, and I am having a hard time downloading one to my computer. Seem's a little fishy to me.

Mine was working great the last time I used it (approx one mo ago) but when I started trying to use it today, it shows every disc as "no disc". I have tried the exact same ones that worked last time but it seems to recognize none of them. It says "load" then changes to "no disc". I would appreciate any help out there.

I don't have the solution but from the information I found this particular recording is VERY picky in reference to the brand of DVD it records on. I suspect the same goes for what it plays also. I got my Cyberhome DVR1600 free when I bought a HDTV. I'm currently doing more research for what brand of DVD is accepted. I'll post again if I find anything.

To the second problem, some units are now universal and will play DVD's from more then one region, ie: Pal, NTSC etc.

Best to check your manual for different regional settings.
The unit may still be in it's own county and you are using discs from USA.

Hope that helps.

As i live in Australia, the best advice i can offer anyone, if you plan on buying a universal player, buy it locally as it should already be set to your region.

Buying cheaply from overseas suppliers may result in non-compatable disc errors.

Tip

XBOX 360 WILL NOT READ DISC SAYS OPEN TRAY

eject the game from the cd console if in the drive make sure your xbox is on warm it up take the disc if it is dirty run under warm water all over the silver side of the disc till dirt and debris gets completely removed after still holding the disc turn off the water and use scott SCOTT brand toilet paper the straight kind and use about four sheets to dry the disc or use a blow dryer, not preffered prefreably scot toilet paper after the disc is dry and warm very dry take your clean index finger and remove the rest of the debris off the disc and when the xbox says open tray let it say close tray close it see if it says read the disc if it says read the disc then it is not your laser or the laser needs to be blowed off with an air gun or compressed air. Get it to say close tray and itll close it self, wait ten seconds turn off the xbox turn it back on and go to my xbox mash play wait for it to read the disc. THE DISC WILL NOT WORK IF IT IS DIRTY I reccomend running it under warm water (let dry on both sides while still holding it properly) use a non scratch cloth to clean the disc preferablly scott toilet paper the smooth kind, after it is dry put the disc in the console if youve tried the disc try a brand new disc it might definately work after it says read if it says play the game then its the disc. If nothing happens like it dont say reading disc then your laser is cracked corrupted, or it has debris on it or is wett. Dont let your laser head get wet because i told you to run it under water make sure the disc is dry and completly free of scratches and smudges. WASH THE DISC WITHOUT SCRATCHING IT. Dont put a wet disc in your x box. Mash the hard drive button down and release mash reset to recycle the xbox green lights. Remove all the cords fromt the xbox wait two weeks or shorter, I waited a month or more before i played my game and it worked after I cleaned it twice one time and a month later i cleaned it without soap and used luke warm water.Remember Open tray, press buttom close tray closing automatically should say read reading reading disc then play if does not read the disc then its your laser. If its your laser and you are sure its your laser do not remove the hardrive or any screws they can tell youve botherd it because that will void your warranty. go to www.xbox.com/support its a pdf file print shipping label follow the steps to repair.

I've tryed putting xbox360 games in a xbox360 but it sais open tray

The XBox 360 is a wonderful video game console, however, with heavy usage, the laser (and/or other components in the drive) will eventually burn out. The first signs of the laser starting to burn out is that your game will start freezing during game play. Eventually the games will stop reading altogether and you will get an "OPEN TRAY" message when you put a disc in and close the tray. What this means is that the XBox 360 thinks that there is no disc in the system.

You can find more information about this issue, find parts to repair it, or send your system to repair all at the following website:

My xbox 360 elite keeps on saying open tray even though i have a game in i would open it than it would read for about 2 seconds than say open tray again and i dont want to take it apart to void my warranty

The warranty on the XBox 360 is ONE YEAR. If you have had it for more than a year, there is no more warranty to be void. You can open it.

Console is not reading disc-when inserted it says open tray, any ways to fix it please?

Hmmm....have you just bought this game/movie? if you have you might have a blank disc or to much film this film is added on disc and if theres too much on there it wont play it will act as there is nothing in your disc tray so if the film is the problem take windex and clean it real good then if it doesnt work you might have a blank disc this is very rare but it does happen ive had this happen on a movie and i see someone at gamestop occasionally who complains about a blank disc. hope this helps.

My 360 elite makes me open and close the disc tray

DVD Drive failure most common problem, this ranges from dirty disk error (DDE) message to inoperable drive door, skipping in movies, slow load time or no load or the call customer service errors 10, 11, and 12. To replace the drive it will have to be reflashed.
