Question about Apple MA590LLA Mac Desktop

1 Answer

Desktop items are huge and the desktop moves around with mouse

This has happened in the past but a reboot would always fix the problem.
it starts with items getting bigger and bigger as though I was using the magnifier tool.
after three reboots, the desktop items are still huge but not getting bigger and the desktop moves around with the mouse.
I have to move the desktop around in order to see folders and apps.
please help, this is very frustrating.
thx

More info would help: Mac model, devices connected, OS version.
I would try another keyboard, and also zap the PRAM (boot up, hold P,R, OPT, CMD keys together till chime...hold down so chime heard two restart times, then let go).
A known good mouse and keyboard is a must, and make sure nothing else is plugged into Mac incase a device is causing this.

What you have done is accidently magnified your screen slightly. To correct this hold down your ctrl key and scroll down on your mouse, this should fix it. Hope this helps.

Hi there,
First off, would it be possible for you to give us a little more detail on the problem, such as, does the finder open? is your dock onscreen? does your wallpaper appear?
As far as i can see, your best bet woud be to reboot your imac with the OSX disk in. Then boot your computer and before you hear the chime hold down the C key on your keyboard. this will boot from the disk. Once it has loaded, select your language, and then go to the utilities menu at the top and find disk utility. open it and run repair disk and repair permissions.
after this, shut down and take the disk out and reboot as normal. Any change?
Hope this helps, let me know if not.

This is not a problem, just a viewing setting. To fix this,

  1. Hold down control and scroll out either with 2 fingers on a trackpad, or the scroll wheel on a mouse (unless it is the Magic Mouse, then you just have to slide a finger on the mouse)
  2. This will scroll out your area of view and fix this. :-)

Looks like your mouse is causing the trouble. Try a different mouse if you have one lying around. Or to check, unplug the mouse when that starts to happen and check if the problem is resolved immediately. If it does, well, time to get a new mouse.

plug out your mouse again and plug it in, then start the computer from the start. If happens again, then the mouse may have gone faulty otherwise if the mouse is ok, it will work.

My pc wont go past the microsoft corporation screen (loading screen)

Open the machine - remove everything but the mouse and key board and one stick of ram- check the connections to the hdd while you're in there.
Reboot the machine - once it hints at getting going after you turn it on - start tapping the delete button -until you get to the BIOS - find the SET TO DEFAULT - there is only one -- it will set you back to default and let you boot up. Once this happens - reboot the machine - if it STILL has trouble - reboot it again and tap F-8 until you get to safe mode - once in safe mode it should give you an error message - copy that down and come back. Conflict of drivers, Interrupts and DMA addresses.

To fix:
1. Goto Start, Run, type 'devmgmt.msc' and hit enter
2. Find Mouse and other Pointing devices, double click to open, and highlight whatever is in there.
3. Hit DEL
4. Repeat until no other items in there
5. Reboot

Should work OK now

Cheers!
