Recently, I found out that audio files (imported music) on my Garmin c550 GPS device are impossible to delete since directory with files is untraceable. I can still choose and play music on device itself, but when connected to PC with USB cable it shows only one folder K:\GARMIN and no subfolder with audio files. Though, I can see all files and _P3 folder while running undelete program, but still I can’t delete them. If my explanation makes sense, please advise.

Re: File deletion problem from Garmin c550
If your undelete program lets you undelete the _P3 folder, do it. Then try renaming it to MP3. See if this helps. This is the folder in which all of your music is stored. If it allows you to change the folder name, you should now see (and be able to delete) all of your music files stored on the GPS.

Connect your dakota 10 to your computer ,double click on my computer or computer on deskstop and you will see garmin storage. And then double on garmin F .double click on garmin folder and if you want to delete gpx files click on gpx ,you can see current, archive and track log you've saved. Then you can delete tracklog you've saved .But some tracklog were automatically saved in archive folder ,double click folder and you can delete gpx file.In the same way if you double click on current folder you can see current gpx file and you can delete it.Like that you can delete image file in the same way.One important is you must not delete system files or folder.
1. Connect the USB cable to device and computer 2. Double-click the My Computer (Windows computers) or the mounted-volume icon (Mac computers) 3. Double-click on the Garmin drive 4. Nope. Take the unit back to your security location which you sent when you
first got the GPS. Without knowing the PIN or security location, you
will not be able to unlock the unit. You will have to send it in to
Garmin to be unlocked, and you will have to include your receipt from
an authorized dealer.
i had a simalar problem -i asked for an update off garmin and they sent me a disc with apdated maps but didnt tell me i had to first delete the loaded maps you will have to go on the garmin website and order the FREE update disc for uk and ireland and just follow the instructions when you recieve it hope it works for you ;>)
You can try this step that I found. If you tried loading other mapas try this.
You will need to erase a file from the units memory. Connect your GPS system to your computer; go to start then ‘My Computer’, and double click on your device file (mass storage system), there you will see a folder named ‘Garmin’. In this folder are several different files, look for file named gmapsupp.img. Right hand click on this file and delete as this file is causing the maps to lock.
