Question about Dream Maker Spas Dream Maker Ez Spa Hot Tub

1 Answer

Is there anything I can do to lower the bromine level in my hot tub? I just shocked it this afternoon and the reading is off of the charts. Also is there another way to test the chemicals instead of using the test strips? My spa dealer said the readings are not always reliable. Thanks!

Remove any undissolved tablets. leave it uncovered. You can't neutralize it but it will dissipate. There are better test kits that use liquid drops or tablets that are mixed in a plastic tube. If I remember correctly I think Seaboard makes a good one. You always need to set ph, and hardness as well as bromine level to get the water "right". A decent test kit will help you do that. If you need to use it soon, replace part of the water.

A New Hot tub cover will lower your Hot Tub Costs

A New hot tub cover will help you run your hot tub at a more efficient level. Lower your energy costs as the new hot tub cover will insulate better. The question is when do you need a new hot tub cover.

The best ways to know if you need a new spa cover or hot tub cover are the following:

  1. The hot tub cover weighs over 100 pounds.
  2. You need more then one person to remove the hot tub cover.
  3. The hot tub cover is ripped and torn past repair.
  4. Faded cracked and just aesthetically ugly.
  5. The seam in the middle is ripped past repair.
Can you fix your hot tub cover? Some things you can fix like rips and tears. You can take the cover to a local seamstress to repair. You can not fix a saturated hot tub cover, it needs to be replaced at that point. New Hot Tub Cover for the Fall and Winter

What chemicals do I need in my intex inflatable hot tub

Hi, according to this site How to Treat Your Hot Tub Best Hot Tub for 2014
First check th pH levels with the pH level checker. That is pretty straightforward and should be included in instructions with your pH checker (which may have come with your hot tub)

It's good to do a chlorine shock once you fill the hot tub with water.

So what will you need?
pH tester/pH tester strips
chlorine
And chemicals for balancing ph ... pH+ and pH- which you will surely find in a shop with pools.
Each of this should come with instructions.
Good luck!

Is there anything on the market to replace chemicals on a new hot tub

Drain the water weekly. IF you really want to dish out the money you can get an Ultraviolet sanitizer or even an ozone generator but those are made to work with chemicas like chlorine or bromine, not stand alone, also for pools. And even then you would have to manage the ph somehow and that can only be done by replacing water or some kind of acid. Chlorine tabs now a days usually take care of both trichlor being slightly acidic for such a small body of water takes care of both. If you have some kind of chlorine smell from your spa and you are not sitting right next to a chlorine floater then you have a problem with the chemical balance and is a byproduct of chloramines.

What chemicals to use

you should use Bromain to keep it stable and a water clarifyer as needed, stay away from those "aroma therapy" things, they cloud the water and change the PH/Alkalinity. After you fill the tub you can take a sample to any pool supply store and they will test it for you.

Spa thermal overheating

Turn off all power to the hot tub as soon as you realize it is overheating. The spa should have an automatic shut off when the water temperature reaches about 112 degrees fahrenheit. Call your hot tub dealer or manufacturer for service options. There are a variety of conditions that could lead to the overheating of your hot tub, but may differ in various hot tub models and brands. Check the water level of the hot tub. Low water levels could be the culprit for the over heating, so you may just need to add more water to the hot tub.
Check the shut-off valves in the hot tub. If they are closed while the hot tub heater is on, it could cause the water to reach unsafe temperatures.
Clean the hot tub filter. A dirty filter could be blocking the flow of water, causing the water to sit in the hot tub and overheat.
Turn the power back on after finding the problem and talking to the hot tub dealer. The hot tub will probably not start back up until the water reaches a safe temperature

Is there anything I should know when filling my hot tub for the first time? I bought it used and I don't know anything about hot tubs. It didn't come with a book.

Go to your pool supply place and prostrate yourself to the tech ... tell him or her that you dont know anything about your tub and that you need advice.

Here are things you should consider. Electrical ... your tub should be supplied by a 60 or so amp 220 GFI. No connections closer than 5 feet. Water, get rid of the metal in your water FIRST! Not a biggie in a glass pool but you may want to put i a little calcium to 250 ppm. Get the ALK to 100 and th pH to 7.4 then add the CL. You might want to use bromine ... it is more money and more delicate than CL. Your pool place may say you dont need any of this stuff ... they will try to sell you a product that they claim will set your pool up chemically for 6 months. Buy it ... and then monitor the water keeping an eye on the items I recommended above. If you use liquid chlorine (why would you when you probably have a automatic system that uses small tabs?) and your tub is out side exposed to the sun, consider a little cyanuric acid. Dry CL comes with 'conditioner'.

Good luck with your tub, and thanks for your interest in FixYa.com

My saltwater system produces chlorine but disappears fast

first of all your problem is a few things combined.
First lets learn what consumes chlorine
Heat, sun, rain, sun tan oil 3 of swimmers

you may need to run your generator 12 hours some nights it all depends on what kind of day it was and what the chlorine was to start with

Also if you do not have your salt as close to 3000ppm as you can then you are also not generating enough chlorine even if you are not triggering an alarm for low salt

you can not be below 2800 and no higher than 3800ppm
a test kit is available get the strips that reads #'s not the color strips for salt reading

Also you should be using a chlorine stabilizer to help hold the chlorine level this is only a help situation. it will not completly remidy your chlorine level going low if all the elements I mentioned are happening at the same time

Also be carefull not using the pool that is the worst thing you can do. You may go green quick without people in it stiring it up

I also recommend you use a non foaming algaecide every 5-7 days just follow directions for your gallons of water

By the way bromine tests are really not for pools they are designed to work with the hot water and chlorine level of a hot tub
your ph is fine, about in the middle alkalinity is what drives your ph so worry about the ph level and chlorine and you are good to go

Does not work at all! will not even fill with water!

  • Test the water level switch
  • Check that the drain hose is positioned roughly as high as the top of the inner tub
  • Before testing the water level switch, unplug the washer or shut off the power at the fuse box or breaker panel to avoid an electrical shock hazard. The water level switch (aka pressure switch) senses the water level in the wash tub. It does this through a plastic tube which runs from the switch in the control console down to the side of the outer tub, near the bottom . The tube is filled with air. As water enters the tub it also enters the tube. As water climbs inside the tube, it pushes on the air trapped inside and increases the air pressure. When the air pressure reaches a certain level, it triggers the switch.
    pressureswitch1.jpg
A defective pressure switch can interfere with the cycles that depend upon the switch to indicate when water has filled or emptied from the tub. It can also result in underfilling or overfilling of the tub.
The switch routes current from the timer control to the temperature switch and the water inlet valve when the tub needs to be filled. Once full, the pressure switch cuts the current and reroutes it to the motor on the timer control to continue the cycle.
Inspect the air tube for kinks, breaks or damage. The tube should also be free of water. The tubing should be securely connected to the bottom of the outer tub and to the bottom of the water level switch.
The water level switch has three connectors. Label and disconnect the wires from the switch. Test the switch for continuity using a multitester Set the multitester to the ohms setting X1. It will be necessary to test each of the three possible pairs. For example in the image below, test pairs 1 & 2, 1 & 3 and 2 & 3.
terminals.gif Place a probe on two terminals and note the reading. Now move one of the probes to the other terminal and note the reading. Finally test the third pair and note the reading. The multitester should display a reading of infinity or continuity for each test. In this test two of the pairs should read infinity and one should read near zero resistance (continuity).
Now blow gently into the air pressure connection and retest. It should click and you must maintain the air pressure while testing. For the two pairs that read infinity one should now show good continuity. The pair that previously gave of reading of continuity should now give a reading of infinity.
If the switch fails either of these tests, it should be replaced.
