I have a HP k8600 printer. I changed the black ink cartridge and now it won't print any black, only other colors. What is the solution?


Hi,

Here are some steps that can help you resolve yoour issue.

Make sure that we use a genuine HP ink cartridge

Try printing a diagnostic page from the control panel. Here are the steps:
Press and hold the Power button
Press the Cancel button for seven times
Press the Resume button for 2 times
Release the Power button

If the issue persist
Try Cleaning the printheads. Here are the steps:
Make sure there's unused paper
Press and hold the Power button
Press the Cancel button 2 times
Press the Resume button 1 time
Release the Power button

If still the problem persist try reseating the cartridge
Open the cover
Make sure paper is loaded in the Tray
If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, press and hold the Resume button until the carriage moves to the left. Wait for the carriage to stop moving.
Lift the printhead latch
Lift the handle of a printhead, and use it to pull the printhead out of its slot
Before installing a new printhead, shake the printhead up and down at least six times while the printhead is still in its packaging.
Remove the new printhead from its package, and then remove its orange protective caps, Do not shake printheads after the caps are removed
Insert the printhead into its color-coded slot. Press down firmly on the printhead to ensure proper contact
Pull the printhead latch all the way forward, and then press down to ensure that the latch is properly engaged. You might have to apply some pressure to engage the latch.
Close the cover, wait while the device initializes the printheads and prints the alignment pages

My HP Officejet Pro K8600 won't print black. I have changed the printhead, the cartridge. I have soaked the printhead, I have shaken head. I am getting yellow ink out but no black. I have run every...


Materials needed: New empty syringe (big one) Gloves (to protect your hands fromink) Alcohol Paper tissue (to clean the excessink) Empty Plastic bottle (Here you putthe ink from the syringe) Important: Ensure that you have put new blackink cartridge to K8600. Ensure that the printhead arerecognized by the printer or no light alarms. Instruction: Press the Power button to turn onthe printer. Test print in microsoft excel with4 color black/yellow and cyan/magenta. If black only is missing means youhave clogged problem from the host. Wear your globes, prepare thematerials needed. Open the top cover. Press and hold the Resume buttonuntil the carriage moves to the left. CAUTION: Be careful not to proceed until the carriage is on the left sideof the printer. If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, turnthe printer off and back on and then try holding down the Resume button again.The printhead can be damaged if the carriage is not all the way to the left forinstallation. Lift the printhead latch. Lift the handle of a printhead anduse it to pull the printhead black/yellow out of its slot. Put printhead in thepaper tissue upward. Your printer are still ON becarefull not to touch the flex copper circuit. Get your syringe, use this to pullthe ink from the nozzle cap ( see link picture) After the done the syringe method,Insert the printhead black/yellow into its color-coded slot. I am getting white lines going through my documents? Does that mean I need black Ink or does it mean my proint heads are having a problem?


hello, yes you will need to replace printhead, just the black/yellow #88 . thats if you already tried going thru the cleaning process.

REPLACING HP PRINTER, PRINTHEADS


Follow these steps to replace the printheads in your printer.
  1. Press the Power button (c00636182.gif ) to turn on the printer.
  2. Open the top cover.
  3. Press and hold the Resume button (c01219285.bmp ) until the carriage moves to the left. CAUTION: Be careful not to proceed until the carriage is on the left side of the printer. If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, turn the printer off and back on and then try holding down the Resume button (c01219285.bmp ) again. The printhead can be damaged if the carriage is not all the way to the left for installation.
  4. Lift the printhead latch. Figure 3: Lifting the printhead latchc01290070.gif
  5. Lift the handle of a printhead and use it to pull the printhead out of its slot. Figure 4: Removing the old printheadc01295543.gif
  6. Shake the new printhead at least six times while the printhead is still in its packaging. Figure 5: Shaking the new printheadc01134519.gif
  7. Remove the new printhead from its package, and then remove its orange protective caps. Figure 6: Removing the protective capsc01134520.gif CAUTION: Do not shake the printheads after removing the orange protective caps.
  8. Insert the printhead into its color-coded slot (the label on the printhead must match the label on the printhead latch). Press down firmly on the printhead until it snaps into place. Figure 7: Inserting the new printheadc01290071.gif
  9. Pull the printhead latch all the way forward, and then press down until the latch engages. Figure 8: Closing the printhead latchc01290072.gif

  11. The printer should align the printheads automatically in a few minutes, printing an alignment page. If it does not, go to the next section to align manually.
Align the printheadsIf you installed the HP software, use the instructions in the left column below. If you installed a Plug and Play driver or other driver, use the instructions in the right column.

HP K8600 started printing in only yellow & black.


replaceing the print head aught to fix it, if not you might have a logic board problem.
