Question about Jenn-Air JCD2389G Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Water dripping from inside of freezer compartment.

I have a Jenn Air JCD2389GE side by side refrigerator. Started to notice water dripping from the bottom of the inside freezer door. Removed inside panel of the freezer and noticed the ice accumulating below the coils in a pan area that has a drain hole at the bottom. Cleaned out the ice but water/ice continues to accumulate in the pan area which eventually overflows. Any thoughts.

The condensate drain has a blockage further down and possibly in one of the turns as it leads down to the pan below your refrigerator. Most times the blockage begins slowly until the opening of the drain hole under the evaporator freezes itself shut. Below is a link to some solutions I have collected over a period of time. Also has a short movieWater dripping from inside of freezer compartment. - 2.gif that makes the repair look simpler. There are many reasons for this happening for example water leaking from a water supply line for the dispenser or ice maker, a crack in the defrost pan, water leaking inside and draining through the refrigerator cabinet, but most are caused by a defrost drain line blockage. Below is a link that may be helpful so try to take it all in and use the parts that most refer to your specific problem, Thanks Sea Breeze

Ice accumulation at defroster drain hole

You can usually clean them out from the inside of the freezer.I use a piece of plastic tubing to run down them. You can also use a piece of wire as long as it doesn't have a sharp end that might damage the tube. You can remove the cover from the back of the fridge and you will see the tube coming out of the cabinet going to the drain pan. Post back if you need further help.

Water does not flow

first you should take the water feed off, clear all water out of tube going to ice maker.remoe ice maker and check the wiring and all looks good.hook water up,turn water on just enough to see you have waterflow yo ice maker.might need a towel or two in the freezer.replace icemaker, make sure bar on ice maker is down, turn water on full, give it 12hrs to make ice. good water flow-no ice--replace ice maker.

JDC2389GES side by side fridge Water is leaking inside the freezer and pooling at the bottom.

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Actually the leaking water is from the evaporator coil unit....(it is located at the back wall or underneath the freezer compartment). Under normal conditions,Self-defrost refrigerators usually dispose the water generated during the defrost cycle through a tube or channel that directs the water a pan (Known as Drip pan), commonly below the refrigerator unit....
The channel or tube is clogged and the water is leaking to the refrigerator/freezer unit, so you need to clear that blockage/contamination....Once the blockage is removed, the generated water will move through that channel/tube directly to the drip pan and there will no water on the floor in the refrigerator/freezer compartment. This is all you need to do....

Best of Luck,

Check that the drain tube for the defrosted water is not plugged. Someone on here just the other day had the same exact problem, and that was the problem they had.

Water collects and freezes in the bottom of the freezer

Your defrost drain is clogged. Get all the ice out and get to the defrost drain hole at the very rear bottom of the freezer. I use a piece of plastic tubing to run down them and clean them out, but you can use a piece of wire if it doesn't have a sharp end that will damage the tube. You can also remove the rear cover of the fridge and you will see the tube going from the cabinet to the drain pan and clean it from there. Post back if you need further help.
