Re: o.O what?!

A second thing you can do is buy yourself a card reader at your local electronics store.
The link above would do the trick, this will allow you to just take out your memory card plug it in the reader and transfer your images.
Good luck!

Re: o.O what?!

Sorry found no vista drives on the site and found this in the product specs

System Requirements
ò 98SE/ME/2000 Professional/XP with USB port; Macò OS X 10.2 and higher with USB port

If you have a second computer that meets these specs you can download them to it and user a usb memory stick or or means to transfer the files to the vista machine

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( ).

Canon Rebel XTi not recognized when plugged into usb

Vista is your problem. an inexpensive card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can send the pics to your photo editing software.

+driver for canon powershot a 40 on vista

I had same problem. Called Canon and found out A40 is not compatible with Vista so there is no driver. But you can download pics to your Vista by purchasing USB Memory Card Reader/Writer you can find at Walmart for about $12.00. You put your Flash card in device and has USB that plugs in computer for downloading pics.

Transferring pics to computer

Check the 'My Computer' for an unfamiliar drive; if as most PCs, you have a C:, D:, E: listed, these are the basics; C: & D: are the hard drive (partitioned), E: is whatever optical drive you have. You may have others such as several named drives for a digital card drive may be present too. Depending on how your camera's memory is recognized, you should have a drive you didn't before. Open the last named drive to see what (if anything) it shows for folders and files. If it brings up an error message about having nothing to read, work your way forward in the alphabet and check each. Customarily, Win will add any new drives at the end of the series of named drives.
If you find folders on a drive later in the alphabet, open them to look at the content. If you find a bunch of .jpg files, you are there.
If you find nothing, you may have to download an additional driver since the Praktica is not a real common camera, Vista may not have provided a default driver for it.
