Question about NetGear WGT624 Wireless Router

WGR614V9 virgin router drops connection

I got virgin broadband with WGR614V9 router, and keep experiencing problems - I have one desktop computer hardwired to router, plus two laptops on wireless connection. With one laptop it works fine, but if I switch on the second one, connection with router starts dropping on ALL computers ! or gets really slow.. it's not even internet connectivity problem, as I can't even access http://192.168.1.1 configuration panel !
Connection usually comes back by itself when I switch my laptop off.
I'd be grateful for any ideas,

I should first thank you for the clear details you have given about your connection .I will try best to help you.The firmware version can be older so check the firmware version and upgrade it. Try to open the netgear smart wizard page in your wired computer by going to www.routerlogin.com or 192.168.1.1.The USERNAME:ADMIN and PASSWORD:PASSWORD(default).We can troubleshoot this only if this page is opened.In the netgear page at left side blue screen under maintenance->router status check the firmare version if its older version then click on router upgrade and check for the new version from internet(click on check tab) and upgrade the firmware.Hope this solves your problem if not try with different laptop wirelessly connect if you are able to connect then its the computer problem contact your computer vendor.Rate me if i have helped you that will motivate me.Thank you.Have a good day.

I believe the checkmark light is to say that the internet connection has been successful. Are the laptops connecting to the router but not the internet?
Connect a PC/laptop to the router via ethernet cable and goto the routers homepage (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). then double check that your ISP settings have been entered correctly. This should get you online, if the problems persist contact your ISP to clarify your broadband settings, user logon, and that their service is up and running.

Try reseating te broadband connection to the router.

It soundslike your router works if it connects to your laptop with a great signal. But its not sending any information through.

Try reseating. if it does not work. you might need to do a fresh reinstall of the router. Usually the broadband connections attach itself to a mac address of a network card. If you recently put a new router the network cards MAC address is different and it might not send signals through. like for me for cable i have the same issue.

I having problems connecting a netgear 54 rt usb adp router to virgin broadband.Router is saying there is an internet connection but computer displays cannot display page and no connection.PS3 has picked...


on your computer try to reinstall the device driver for wireless. try to connect the ethernet cable directly to the computer. if you have internet access, then most likely your netgear router needs to be reconfigured. you need to contact your internet service provider or router manufacturer for the reconfiguration of your router. mostly likely the security settings of the router needs to be changed.

I have purchased a belkinf5d8233uk4 and have trouble connecting to virgin broadband as cable from virgin into modem is screw in can you help


you still have to use the modem from virgin, mine is setup the same but with a different router, you have the virgin rounter connected to the wireless router then the belkin wireless rounter connectes to you pc instead of the virgin router, your gonna have to log onto the router and setup some security to make the connection safe from others using it.

Hello,

If you have your pc connected directly to your Virgin Broadband modem through the ETH/LAN port on your pc then disconnect it from that port on your PC.

Then connect the same cable to your Belkin Routers Internet/WAN port. Then take the extra cable that came with the Belkin router and connect it to 1 of the 4 lan ports on the Belkin router. Then connect the other end to your PC in the LAN port.

After that, restart your PC and everything should be fine.

Cannot finish connecting


Hi fozzy211 - Please don't rate this 'til were finished. You've got two things going on. You said it's telling you to check the cables and then you say it's saying the router isn't from Verizon. Is it both? Are the cables hooked up correctly to your knowledge? We can fool Verizon's system. Let me know if you actually have two problems. For now I would only hook up one pc via wired until it's working. I'll await your response. Thanks.

Virgin broadband to laptop


Try setting a static IP on your computer with the DNS provided by the modem- to set this up contact Virgin and have them help you setup a static IP(or if you know how to set static IP on the computer use the same IP information you getting from the DHCP).

I need the settings for a d-link dkt-410 to virgin broadband.the router is recognised by the laptop,but the router is not recognised by the provider.as you can see im no expert! thanks


With this you will have to reset the Virgin box to deregister the Mac address it holds.
Connect the computer to the router and have both turned on, connect the router to the Virgin (always wated to type that) and then unplug the power from the virgin (this is getting better all the time)
Leave it unplugged for 15 minutes, then power it back up with the router and computer already running.

Log into the router and check it has been assigned an IP address by the Virgin (yeah, I had to get one last one in)
