Question about Amana DLG330RAW Gas Dryer

1 Answer

I have an Amana gas(LP) dryer DLG330RAW that doesn't heat. When I turn on the dryer the ignitor glows red, and ignites a great flame for about 10 seconds, then I hear a click and the flame shuts down. A few minutes later the same thing. I have plenty of exhaust while it running the blower is spinning. Any ideas?

Replace the two small round black solenoids located on the gas valvle. I just did it last week. They come in a set and only cost me $26.50. Easiest fix I've done. I was all set to go out and buy a new dryer.

it sounds like there's a block somewhere in the system, unplug it,get a shop vac and a brush, vac up all the lint you can see then set the shop vac up to blow and blow all the lint off of the motor, out of the gas tube where the ignitor is and then clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, pull the vent line off of the back of the dryer and start it and see if that makes a difference, also on the blower wheel housing there's a cycling thermostat part number 37001136 that could be bad or if you use cling free sheets the back of the t-stat could be covered with the white powder from the sheets and lint, you can try cleaning the back of it off but it sounds like you have a block somewhere,if the dryer does run good after you clean it out and run it with the vent line off the block most likely is in the vent line,if it's a long run stick a leaf blower into the vent line and blow all the lint out of it to the outside, make sure there isn't a cage or anything outside that's blocking the vent.i know you say it's clear but check it again before you start changing parts it sounds like bad air movement.good luck and if possible let me know what you find.

Where can I find the ignitor on amana DLG330RAW dryer? Sorry for the stupid question, but it's not heating, and I need to try to do this myself. I have no idea where to start

Sears maintains a huge library of appliance info and if they have your dryer listed, there will be a line drawing of it making it fairly easy to locate any given part. Further, if listed, you will likely be able to order the part through Sears and my experience has been that they charge a minor amount more than some other places but it is very convenient.
Go to the link below and enter your model number to see if yours is listed:

My Amana DLG330RAW gas dryer isn't heating up. The coil glows bright red for a while, but there is no flame. The coils seemed warm to me the last time I tried running it for a while, but I'd like to know...

Hello there:
Gas Dryers are very complex and there are several facttors involved here to make it heat Here is a list of possiable solutions for you to look at ok
Igniter Modern gas dryers use an electric igniter to ignite the gas from the gas valve. When it's working properly, the igniter glows bright orange. When it burns out, the dryer tumbles but there's no heat because the gas can't ignite. When the igniter burns out, you need to replace it. If the igniter is held by a tension bracket, you very well may need to replace the bracket too. The igniter is inside the dryer housing, near the bottom front, usually in a cone-shaped metal tube (the force cone). It's about 2 inches long. It's mounted to the far end of the burner tube, and it has two wires attached to it--or to the tension bracket, if there is one. Gas valve coils Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Gas dryer starts out ok. When it needs more temp to keep drying, the glow plug turns on and waits for the lp gas to show up and nothing happens. My quess, 1. solenoid valve malfunctions 2. no flame...

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

I have an Amana Dryer Model # LGD20AW and when the dryer is first turned on the glow plug will heat up and ignite the gas but as the dry cycle continues the glow plug will heat up but no flame will ignite...

The glow coil or glow bar heats up and a sensor on the side reacts to the heat and then sends a signal to a gas valve.(solenoid valve) When the gas doesn't ignite when the coil is glowing... here are some reasons. 1. The sensor on the side of the burner assembly isn't working or sending power to the valve. 2. The valve is getting power but not opening. 3. The ignitor is not glowing hot enough to activate the flame sensor. Usually it is the sensor or the igniter not the valve.

Dryer heating problem

It sounds like an air flow issue. There is a flame sensor on the side of the flame housing. If the venting is not sucking the flame down the tube it will cycle very quickly and never reach the right temp.

try cleaning or replacing the flame sensor ( optical unit mounted on the side of the burner tube. voltage flows though that optical eye that proves flame.
