Problem for Sony Hi8 CCD-TRV138 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder
My Sony CCD-TRV138 will not play my recorded
My Sony CCD-TRV138 will not play my recorded tapes. Upon pressing play, I get reinsert cassette message, I remove it and reinsert and always the same message. Any ideas???

- I slapped it a couple of times and it did remove the "message" but, it will not play the tape.Sep 24, 2009
- The reinsert message has gone but a flashing triangle keeps blinking and the tape will not play. Tried another tape to be sure but still, no luck. Awaiting your ideas!Sep 24, 2009
- The slapping eliminated the reinsert message but had a warning symbol. Resetting the camcorder seems to have solved the problem and I am (i hope), back in business. Thanks a million for the rapid solution and a job well done!.Best Solution

Believe it or not all you need to do is smack the side of it a couple times and will work great again

Remove the cassette tape from the camera, turn off camera, remove the battery, then turn the camera back on, then take a pen or pencil and push the reset button, that is below the volume buttons (inside the view finder area). Release the pen then turn camera off again, then unplug the cord and wait 60 seconds so that the residule electric current can completely drain from the Camcorder. After 60 seconds, power on the camera and before you do anything else *YOU MUST RE-ENTER AND SET THE YEAR, DATE, TIME before you go any further. This is crucial to your camera working properly. Then power off again. Power up one more time and this time try to record and playback and see if everything works ok
