My Sony CCD-TRV138 will not play my recorded tapes. Upon pressing play, I get reinsert cassette message, I remove it and reinsert and always the same message. Any ideas???

I slapped it a couple of times and it did remove the "message" but, it will not play the tape.

The reinsert message has gone but a flashing triangle keeps blinking and the tape will not play. Tried another tape to be sure but still, no luck. Awaiting your ideas!

The slapping eliminated the reinsert message but had a warning symbol. Resetting the camcorder seems to have solved the problem and I am (i hope), back in business. Thanks a million for the rapid solution and a job well done!.

Use a head cleaner and then reset the camera. The reset button is inside the little door

    Sony Service Hotline at 1-800-488-7669

Remove the cassette tape from the camera, turn off camera, remove the battery, then turn the camera back on, then take a pen or pencil and push the reset button, that is below the volume buttons (inside the view finder area). Release the pen then turn camera off again, then unplug the cord and wait 60 seconds so that the residule electric current can completely drain from the Camcorder. After 60 seconds, power on the camera and before you do anything else *YOU MUST RE-ENTER AND SET THE YEAR, DATE, TIME before you go any further. This is crucial to your camera working properly. Then power off again. Power up one more time and this time try to record and playback and see if everything works ok

The problem is that dust accumulates inside the compartment where the cassette is inserted. Clean the dust out of it with a high pressure air hose

Use the Sony V8-25CLD optional cleaning cassette

My camcorder keep saying reinsert cassette

Try reinserting a Brand new Cassette . If this dos`nt work take the battery out over night reinsert the battery with the Brand new cassette in it .if you used the recorder to play very much footage as a viewer it has over heated it . the sensor that sense`s a cassette is just a little out of place with a little skill and if you know what you are looking for you can put this back in possition!

REINSERT CASSETTE MESSAGE ON Sony Handycam TRV138- Hi8

I bet it has been in a cupboard and not used for a long time. The camcorder has a "Mechacon Fault". Maybe electronic, (component failure) or electrical, (switches tarnished contacts).

I get an eject symbol and beep and error code c32:11, original issue was that it ate a tape

Hi,
The error C 32:11 denotes for mechanical unsuitability, This problem appears when the improper insertion of the cassette been done, or lose cassette tape stuck,
In all these situations mechanical adjustment is required, You are suggested to please contact any expert for the mechanical adjustment.
Hope you will understand my sayings.
Thanks for using fixya.

Play back problem

Your camera playback heads appear to be dirty. You can purchase a head cleaner cassette from an electronics store or take it to a service centre where they will clean the heads.

Check that the tape itself is not damaged, as this can cause the same symptoms.
