Skipping and Jumping

Use at home no problem, test prior gig, no problem, moment start using it "live" hops, skips and jumps on channel 2 only all formats not just MP3. Using various CD's so not the cd, various cd's play ok in other devices so not cd's.

Re: Skipping and Jumping

Try CLEANING THE LASER FOCAL LENS with a cotton bus and windex. use a dry fresh one to remove any film after cleaning. IF problem persists, run machine on its end when mistracking occurs(may be hard if yo doing a gig). If the mistracking stops(because the top bearing in the motor is worn) then it may require a new spindle motor. A double check for worn bearings is a drop of 3 in 1 oil to the top bearing of the motor. If the mistracking stops, REPLACE MOTOR. Oiling it is just a short term solution and it will fail again.
If its not the spindle motor, you may need to REPLACE LASER ASSEMBLY I would do both for a commercial unit that does gigs. Where possible i also check the price of a COMPLETE NEW TRANSPORT. This way you get fresh load belts and tracking drive assly too. At any time replacing the laser, remember to check for(and remove) a solder short circuit across the laser diode to protect it from damage by electrostatic discharge. Do this after you have installed the loom if possible. And of course work electrostatic safe, at least GET A WRIST BAND while you are getting the spares.

My technics eh770 cd player is skipping so i now can't play cds

If the laser pickup is skipping, it is near end of life. Buy a CD cleaning kit and follow instructions, if there is no change the laser pickup assembly will need to be replaced, not cost effective to repair far cheaper to replace player.

Technics SC -HD 501 CD jumping and skipping

If this happens on all CDs then most like the drive is bad or lens is dirty You can try cleaning out the heads using a cleaner disc. If you have a way to get to the lens you can try cleaning it manually. But most likely. It's one of the following dirty lens, bad motor, bad speed control.

Jumping and skipping

Ok, it sounds to me like the laser lens is dirty, the easiest and cheapest sollution is to buy a cd laser lens cleaner.

This is actually a cd which you insert into the cd trey and it will clean the laer lens in the player. Hope this can help.

Kind Regards

Cds all skipping.

Try cleaning and re-lubricating the sled. i've done this with umpteen sony mechanisms and never had anymore problems afterwards. over time the oil/grease becomes hardened and contaminated thus not being able to move freely. shaun.

Static and skipping

You might need to have it professionally cleaned / diagnosed. The problem might not be a dirty reader, but a misaligned tray. Many trays, over time, become misaligned. Some more than others. Depends on your use and abuse of the unit. The issues generally happen towards the end of the tracks.

Sony megastorage 300 cd changer

Hi There are many things that can cause your problem, I can tell you the most likely ones, but I recommend you don't take the unit apart, as the mech. in a 300 disk changer is complicated & delicate, and you may just cost yourself alot more money than getting it repaired. The symptoms you sescribe can be caused by failing laser pickup, dirty laser lense (especially if you've done home renvations with drywall), split drive gear that moves the laser on the sled rails, or even a hair or piece of dirt in the gear teeth of that same gear. The unit will play fine, until it hits the tooth where the debris are, then it skips, or jumps back a bit and starts again until it hits the same spot. Also..badly scratched or finger printed disks will cause that, but that is the first thing most people check. I wish it was something you could repair yourself, but my best advise is to take it to a reputable repair shop, and hope it is not a bad laser, as that is a fairly expensive repair. Hope this helps, Good Luck!
