Question about Yamaha HTR-5960 Receiver
I followed the toubleshooting tips in the manual. Center channel setting and HI FI settings and there is still no sound. I connected the center chennel to th4e right speaker and the speaker works. Any ideas before I take it in for service?

Hmmm, I think your Yamaha RXV640 does not have a sub woofer amp, it has a line level low pass output that needs to go to a separate/dedicated sub amp before going to a subwoofer.
Good luck and kind regards.

Make sure you have set blu ray player out put to bitstream,if you have set to pcm for hd master audio and dolby true you need to have a amp to decode this and hook up with a hdmi cable. If your amp has hdmi in and out but no high def audio you may still get multi channel audio.
Hope this helps.

As simple as this sounds, try hitting the speaker a/b button on the front of the unit, next to the headphone jack. I had the same problem, and was about to package the whole thing back up and go back to Best Buy when I hit this button and then the audio test worked.
