SOURCE: Dryer drum will not turn
The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.
Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch will not activate and the dryer will not start. Replace the lever, if broken.
Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

You have loose or shorted wiring in the dryer. Unplug the dryer.Raise the top lid. Remove the screws on the top right and left inside the dryer to remove the front panel. Disconnect the door switch wires and set the panel aside. Reach in under the drum and remove the drive belt from the motor and pulley. Remove the drum. Inspect the wiring visible inside. Remove the rear panel from the dryer and inspect all wiring and thermostats and fuse relays.Remove the terminal cover where the cord connects and inspect all wiring there for broke or loose. Open the control panel and inspect all wires there for broken or loose. Repair any wiring found defective and replace any parts found defective.

SOURCE: I have a GE Profile
You need to do some basic testing for me so we can at least get a preliminary idea of the problem here, open the dryer door and spin the drum, does it spin fairly easily? if it doesn't there is a problem that must be addressed first, then I want you to hold the dryer door switch in and spin the dryer drum while a helper pushes the start switch in, if the dryer drum spins and stays running the motor start capacitor or switch on the motor may be defective, if it doesn't start then the dryer motor may be defective, let me know what you find out asap.
