Short answer: Yes, you can. (see here)

In order to USE it, you have to have an Operating System that can handle that amount of memory like Windows XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit. See a chart here.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

In call of duty ghost do i need to buy 1 whole 8 gig of memory

You need to have 6 gigs of free dynamic ram.(Not including that used by the operating system and any other applications you have.

The way that memory is organised in a computer these days is usually in pairs or DRAM (dynamic random access memory) sticks which are matched. This allows the CPU to withdraw data from both memory sticks in the same clock cycle (DDR double data rate) which improves the over all speed of the processing.

So legal combinations over 4 gigs which will use the dual channel feature on your motherboard will probably be.

2 x 4 gigs sticks = 8 Gig DRAM
2 x 8 gig sticks = 16 Gig DRAM

Below is the minimum specification requirement.

Note: MINIMUM Faster CPU better graphics card and More ram is better.
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better CPU Speed: Info RAM: 6 GB OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better Sound Card: Yes Free Disk Space: 40 GB

Hi

Well about guaranteed your 2 gigs ram is probably DDR II ram which has maximum of four gigs with 64 bit processing and 2 with 32 bit is. So motherboard needs upgrade. 35.00 for good giabit or board with 1000 megs a sec ethernet lan. With ddrIII ram. And upgrade operating system I believe win 8 has max 16 gig ram win 7 uses 8 gis vista and longhorn 64 use 4 and xp normal edition 32 bit uses 2 max. So you about have to run win 7 or 8. Win 7 will become direct x incomparable at some point making us change to win 8. Win8 cost like 300 to 350 and tiger direct.com has good deal of the win 7 pro media center for 75 bucks. So spend 150 on good speed 8 gig ram, 125 bucks for 12 core and at 4 GHz I think. And a board for 35. Reuse all other componets. And you\'ll have a 2500 dollar computer and best on the block. I have an Acer Aspire 7540-1284 laptop that came with 3GB memory. The specs say expandable to 4GB but the manual says expandable to 8GB using soDimm modules. I can't find info anywhere to support...

it prolly has 2 ram slots, capable of holding a 4gig ram stick apiece- for a total of 8 gigs.

however, the largest ram stick they currently make is 2 gigs. your board can support 2x4gigs of ram (8 altogether), buit the most ram you can currently purchase is 2x2gigs (for 4 gigs altogether).

additionally, you have to have a 64 buit version of windows to regognize all 8 gigs if you had them.
a 32 bit version of windows will recognize no more than 4 gigs of ram.

4 gigs of ram on xp 32 bit

Depends on how much memory your motherboard can accomodate. If *********** board can support 4 gig then just plug your ram and it should work.. xp supports up to 4 gig of ram so even if you connect an 8 gig,it will only recognize the 4gig. Hope this help,
