Question about Quickie Wheelchairs Auto Sunrise Med Guardian Quickie Wheelchair Seat Belt

2 Answers

I have a Quickie Sunrise power wheelchair that is about 10 years old. The center wheels (largest/inflated) appear to "wiggle" when the chair is in motion. When I manually grab the wheels, they can be rocked back-n-forth. I checked the axle nuts and they are tight. There appears to be excessive clearance between the axle outside diameter, the wheel inside diameter. Ray Berger

Thanks, I would like to buy the new bearings before I start replacement.

Do you know the bearing part number I need to buy, and, where to buy?

It's for a Quickie G-124 wheel chair (Serial Number G42-008750).

    Thanks,

    Ray B

Ray, Check the bearings of your center wheels. If they can be rocked, as you say, and the axle nut is tight, then bearings could be another reason for so called 'rocking'.Change the bearings and you would be fine.

    Ray,
I am sorry as I can not help with that as I happen to be in India. What you can do is that you remove the nuts that are holding the front wheels and remove the wheels from the chair. This way you would be able to ensure what is wrong with what part of the wheels and then take it with you so that you buy the exact part from the hardware store after matching with the existing one.

I don't know where my moms wheelchair was purchased, to see if it is still under warrantee

DJ, Did Medicare purchase your Mom's chair? You can contact Sunrise Medical at 1-800-333-4000 and ask if the chair is under warranty. You will have to give them the chair's serial number.

If the chair is less than a year old then all the parts are under warranty except the batteries. If it is not under warranty and Medicare purchased her chair contact Repair Xpress at 1-877-581-3733 to get it repaired medicare will cover 80% of the repair costs Hope this helps you

The chair is either in freewheel or the number of flashes will indicate an error code to tell what the problem is. Look in your users manual for error codes or contact Sunrise Medical Tech support

NO manufacturer has an assembly guide as all the chairs are shipped assembled, or mostly assembled. Most have battery replacement guides and other minor issue stuff, but nothing to take the chair fro womb to tomb.

many wheelchair companies would love to sell you a new chair, because that is how they make most of their money. If you check around, many of the durable home medical equipment companies can special order parts for wheelchairs and scooters and also repair your chair as well. Have you tried to contact Guardian via their website to see if they can give you a list of local vendors? Let me know if I can give you more suggestions or help you find a vendor. GOOD LUCK and God Bless!!
