Hello kpauten,

Here's a link to an excellent fiberglass forum which includes builds or subwoofer enclosures, kick panels, and other audio enclosures.

There's probably one or more similar to what you have in mind.

Check this link for a materials list and some fiberglassing specifics. The build was a subwoofer box, but the information and procedures should be helpful.

Look at these custom enclosures. They take up minimal cargo space, look good and sound great.

Hope this helps.

Front top at the curve is buckled? Why

Look to see if any staples or fasteners are loose. A cracked piece of lumber that the fiberglass attaches to will let it buckle. If you have J molding covering the end of the fiberglass panel, pull out the plastic center strip and add more screws where it is buckling.

The tank on the mastercool is beginning to rust out. Is there an available fiberglass insert for these tanks, or do we need to use mesh and mold it in place?

I have wondered this myself. The Mastercool has inherent weaknesses in the pan where the metal sides and bottom tray meet. Of course they are not manufactured with a fiberglass tray because they would last too long and therefore reduce profits for replacement coolers. I have found that the bottoms of the pans rarely rust because they are constantly under water, not exposed to the air, and also accumulate a buildup of minerals that actually protect the metal. It seems that water gets in the seams and along with the exposed metal at the waterline, rusts out primarily in the end corners. I know of no fiberglass insert but am currently working on three rusted units by using fiberglass cloth and resin and filling holes with good ol' regular automotive Bondo. I am particularly making sure that it is totally sealed so not water can get past the pan. It will take a year or two to find out if this works.

I have also considered cutting off the old pan and having a local HVAC shop fabricate a new one using stainless steel or aluminum. This might be a little costly but would save time compared to reworking the old one with fiberglass cloth. I have been successful in obtaining used metal including SS sheets from the salvage yard very economically. The cost would be in the simple fabrication of the tray and any welding required to make it watertight. I might try this down the line if the fiberglass retro doesn't work.

2002 ford thunderbird crash proof in front?

Most newer American cars have plastic and/or fiberglass components throughout the exterior. This does not necessarily mean its unsafe. These parts are designed to crumple so that the vehicles frame (which is extremely strong) absorbs any impact. I wouldn't be overly concerned, the T-Bird did get a favorable crash test rating.

Bottom of canoe is cracked under the front seat almost all the way across can it be repaired

Is it made from plastic or fibeglass or alum?  For plastic or fiberglass I would try a very good epoxy. For alum. I would try to find some one to weld it. There are some very good epoxy's out now. 3m makes a panel adhevsive for auto use that will fix just about any plastic/fiberglass you may have.

2 inch crack in shower pan fiberglass floor

I repair such fiberglass shower pan liners in the Philadelphia > NYC corridor. Generally, this fix should cost you between $150 and $500 depending on the size of the shower and how many people in your area do fiberglassing. I would strongly suggest having the entire shower basin re-fiberglassed as opposed to trying to patch the hole. However, a good fiberglasser should be able to fix this in a couple of hours for a few hundred bucks. If you are in our area, visit and contact us. Brian
