Do u mean to remove the power to reset the password because u don't know the password, if this is the case, you need to remove the internal cmos battery inside on the motherboard then put it back in, this should reset the password, if you want the box that comes up asking you for a password, then you need to go into the bios, and look for password, and disable it, to go into bios, when your laptop is booting up look for press F2, F12, F5, to enter setup, each laptop is different, might be F8, F9.

How to remove forgotten power on password on hp 18'' all in one desktop pc

If I understand correctly, you are referring to a password that is set in the computer's BIOS which comes before the operating system (Windows / Mac / Linux) starts.

Most BIOS passwords can be reset using a jumper on the motherboard. This is where it gets very specific to the motherboard so you should look for documentation on your specific HP model at support.hp.com.

Typically, you move the CMOS jumper to different pins, power on the system and when the POST completes, turn it off, move the jumper back to its original position, and the computer should start without the "power on" password. In short, it removes whatever changes were made to the BIOS.

I hope this helps.

Dear, how to reset bios hp elitebook 2530p?

Dear untung widi,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

You will have to remove the Power cord, battery, and keyboard. The screws for the keyboard are on the bottom.
You should then be able to see the BIOS battery and remove it. It will have to be removed for at leat 10 minutes to get the system to do a full reset.
If your issue is the password locked into the BIOS, this is a known issue with this model. Follow the instructions at the link I am providing to assist you.

Help how do i remove power on password to model nc6120

I would suggest checking the website of your laptops manufacturer on how to access the BIOS Battery.

When you have gotten to it, remove the BIOS Battery for several (10-20) seconds and then put it back in.

Different names, but it is the same thing. I'm not sure if it is possible to flash the bios without that password. I'll look into it. Have you tried contacting Compaq? The guys at the US online support helped me with a discontinued 8 year old model... and I live in Europe

Don't know the Power on Password

Is the bios protected by the same password, usually it isnt. If you can get on the bios you can disable that HDD password. Other than that I dont know much about HP's and their set ups, sorry.
