Re: T-Moble MDA 11 and getting GPRS

Use a usb dongle (price about +-£10 in uk) install cd software that is included with dongle. When you set set up connection (software interface} you need the following info to connect to ORANGE (UK) follow on screen instructions when asked for at command line enter (cgdcont=1,"IP","orangeinternet") please note this line is case sensative {IP is only thing on line in upper case} next you should be prompted for user name, enter "user" (without quotation marks and in lower case) then when prompted for password enter "pass" (again in lower case and without quotation marks) that`s it you should be surfing the web. NB: i use blue soliel and technika bluetooth dongles, other makes may differ in info required but the above should be everything you need. HOPE THIS HELPS if not i can be contacted on

thanks for using fixya!!!

Your device is equipped with powerful networking functions that enable you
to connect to the Internet through a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)
network. GPRS is a service that allows information to be sent and received
across a mobile telephone network.

Your device is able to configure itself for data services for many of the major
GSM/GPRS operators across the world. Simply insert your SIM card and switch
on your device. When the device powers on it will prompt for the configuration
steps and configure itself for Web, MMS, and WAP services. If the settings are
not known for your operator, the device will notify you and you will need to enter
these manually. You should contact your Network Service Provider.

Wifi problem

Open comm manager , and tap on the Wifi icon, to enable the wireless connection

Then click on settings and tap on wirelss lan
Check under the main tab
If you are getting the configuration setting and if they are correct.

If not tap on the change network tab and then see.

Note : WIFI lan would only work if you are near a hotspot or a wireless router. It is not dependent upon your cell phone provider

Http error $code$

i've gotten that a couple times when trying to connect via the internal modem, a simple reset usually fixed it. If your wifi settings are messed up make sure your wifi switch is on, ensure it is enabled in com manager too. Also, try removing the wireless network via the software and adding it again. if all that fails do a hard reset. If that fails you are pretty much out of luck. I had two MDA's.... they both slowly got **** as months went by and i constantly had to reload the firmware, you may want to consider a different model

AT&T GPRS connection not working

You need to get the proxy settings from your service provider then.

Start -> Settings -> connections -> connections

There should be a link named: set up my proxy server
enter the proxy server there.

Automatically logging onto internet

I'm not sure if you are using GPRS, EDGE, EV-DO, etc....

this is how you do it with GPRS

REG HACK - Turn off GPRS totally (and back to working state) without going to settings

1: You need a Registry editor ( eg. Resco Explorer... there are freeware registry editors too )
2: Find the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\
3: under that , you should see you GPRS settings , for example , mine 's OPTUS GPRS Internet , OPTUS GPRS MMS etc , pick the right one and export it to the *.REG file, and name it to something like " GPRS ON.reg "
4: Modify the setting inside ( for example OPTUS GPRS Internet ) , and change the Enabled value from 1 to 0, then export it to GPRS OFF.reg

use the GPRS ON /OFF .reg to toggle between GPRS always off and on when required.

Happy Registry editing
