Question about Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 in. LCD HDTV
I have a 42 Aquos LCD and there is a faint black vertical line in the middle of my TV. You can only see it if the background is a light colour. Is there any way to get rid of this or is this the start of a problem with the TV?
I have a verticle line running up the right side of my 32" Westinghouse LCD screen. This happened only 6-7 weeks after I bought it. I thought maybe it would go away but it did not... Interestingly, I found that it is exactly where the screen changes from 'normal' mode to 'extended' view mode.
In other words, when viewing the picture in 480 normal mode, you have black on the left and right side of the picture. At that exact line on the right side, is where the permanent black line appeared.
I called the company, and they said that is it NOT an uncommon problem. He said to fix it, I could hook up the tv to my computer and send an all white picture to it. Essentially, burning out the black line. He also said if I couldn't do that (I don't have that cable currnetly) that I could unplug the tv from the wall for 2-3 days...that should also fix it. As this is my only tv, I can't do that...but I am going on vacation in a couple weeks, and I will unplug it while I am gone.. He said if neither fixed the problem, that I should call back and they would deal with it. It is under warranty thank God.
Maybe someone else can try that on theirs, and see if it fixes the problems for them.

LIARS. All LIARS...
I left TV unplugged for 1 week and I hooked it up to all white picture for 4 hours and not one change.
Don't waste your time trying this, it doesn't work.

I bought the extended warranty package when I bought my BenQ, and lucky I did as the week after I did I found out the unit had been discontinued! (therefore the great price!) Anyway, I called the company (Best Buy) and they sent out a tech...he just left. the problem is in the screen, I am told it is an expensive problem to fix and he suggested that it would be cheaper for the store to replace my set than fix it, so I am awaiting a call from someone to tell me how they will handle it. I will contact the service man and ask for a specific diagnosis and report back. I had marked out on the frame of my TV where I saw the lines and it appearred to me that they were about 1/2 -3/4 of an inch apart, and then there was a space of about three inches and then the same 1/2-3/4 inch area where the lines showed up again. Looking at it from a distance I thought it looked like it might be the florescent tubes in the screen itself. I will repost when I get the diagnosis.

All Sharp Aquos 42 46 52 and 65 inch manufactured in the Kameyama II factory exibit banding problems.
Sharp knows about the factory`s mistakes but they refuse to acknowledge the problems. Thousands of complaints were sent to BBB.
Send a letter (injunction) to their president and ask for an RMA, they will take their product back and they will send you your money back.
I did it and got my money back.

Sounds like it could be pixel problems or board problems, this depend on the location. Most are mostly to the left or right, or going across the set to the upper or more to the lower side. For more info visit ctechnicians.com
