I've gotten an Xbox 360 Elite on eBay, and there's no hard drive come with it. Sure, a controller and the power stuff alright, but there isn't even a storage device with it, such as a hard drive (even if it were to have a memory as "big" as the Arcade's which is 256MB capacity). This makes me unable to save games, which gets really anoyying. And I seriously do NOT want to buy a separate hard drive. Any possible reccomendations to save my games on?

The diode in the lens has gotten too weak to put out enough voltage to read the game discs. I'm assuming that you have the original drive board still in your system. you can find another lens on eBay really cheap, here is 3 links because the x box 360 consoles use 2 different lenses. On one of them the connecter for the worm gear mounts on the top, the other mounts from the bottom of the laser
Make sure the disc is clean, if its clean, and works in another 360. Disassemble the 360, open the dvd drive up, shoot some canned air in there but NOT on the laser, clean the laser with some rubbing alchol of at least 91% and a q-tip then put it back together if this doesn't work you will need to buy a replacement laser off of ebay. And here is a link on how to disassemble the 360: http://www.rrodfix.com/how-to-take-apart-the-microsoft-xbox-360-game-console.html Just make sure to stop when you've gotten to the part about the DVD drive, then disconnect the DVD drive, and take it apart. Best of luck.
Just assuming that your hard drive did not come with your Xbox 360? Or if it did then you bought your Xbox 360 used maybe? Below is the reason why some hard drives won't work with BC games. But before you go out and buy a new HDD then go ahead and remove your hard drive from the Xbox 360 and reinsert it to see if that helps. Note: it has to be a HDD not a USB memory for BC gaming.
"Simple. Certain eBay sellers try to make more money by buying 20GB official Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drives for cheap, and then putting larger laptop hard drives into the official 360 hard drive case and then selling them for less than an official drive of the same size would be. Now, technically, these hacked hard drives are the exact same thing as an official one, at least as far as parts go. They will function exactly the same as an official drive. But many of the sellers that sell these drives forget (or might be just plain ignorant about) one important thing - to play backward compatible Xbox games, the hard drives need a special partition for the Xbox 360 to store BC-related data in. If the hard drive doesn't have that partition, you can't play backward compatible games with it."
"So, to answer the question "Why won't original Xbox games work on my Xbox 360" there really is only one answer - Your cheap eBay hard drive might not be as official as you thought and is missing key files that allow for backward compatibility. The solution - Buy official Xbox 360 accessories from established retailers, or if you want to save a few bucks on eBay, make sure you ask the right questions so you know what you're getting."
This is a common issue. 1.Make sure your disk is clean. Dirty disk can cause disk reading issues. 2.Clean the drive with a CD/DVD laser cleaner. 3.Replace the laser. You can get a replacement from Ebay for $10-15. Make sure you get the right one for you drive. There are several different models.
the laser has worn out its not a very hard job to do yourself, google
xbox 360 dvd drive types and find out which version you have then look
on ebay for the correct one to suit your drive type and replace. hope
When you get any of these messages appearing on your screen with one red light flashing on the ROL of your Xbox 360 console that's an indicator of a hardware problem with the console connection to one of the parts connected to it as the hard drive or cables. So, first disconnect all power and AV cables from the back of your Xbox 360 console and also unplug the power cord from the wall socket, wait for a minute then reconnect them all back and try to turn on your Xbox 360 console once more.
If that doesn't work, it seems then to be a fault with your Xbox 360 hard drive so turn off the console again and remove the hard drive then turn on your Xbox 360 console without the hard drive, supposed then to work fine, it might be an intermittent issue and when you reconnect the hard drive your Xbox 360 will work fine all after, or it will just work fine without the hard drive so it will be then definitely a fault with your Xbox 360 hard drive so call Xbox 360 customer support to exchange the hard drive for you.
The number for Microsoft is usually listed on the back of any game manual.
I hope I was able to fixya problem, and Happy Gaming!
