Re: unit keeps reverting Sim mode

It suggests that the transponder or wiring is faulty. I had the same problem and noticed the wire leading to the transponder was worn and exposed in a small area (it had rubbed against the aluminuium of the boat). I have yet to fix the problem - but it may mean a replacement transponder and connection!.

Sat says unplug anything connected usb port as this can affect sat nav but nothing ever been connected also sim card gettiing hot

you need to keep it out direct sun light, if the sim card getting hot maybe the sim card is not compatible to that unit, blow some air through the sim connector port, it maybe dusty, or dirt in the contacts, try a different type of sim card good one like scandisk, or smartmedia memory card, make sure the sim card memory is not maxed out in the amount of memory that the device recommends, some time if it say 4gb dont put 8-64gb of memory in it, it will overheat and may start a fire. if you have problems contact the manufacture for more help.

My garmin nuvi 50lm keeps saying no detailed maps

If you have a sim card installed make sure it is fully in. Also this may occur when yhe battery is extremely low and trying to charge during use. Had this happen just last week and after about an hour of charging it started working correctly. Not sure if it was the sim card, low battery or unit placement as I also moved the unit up into the window instead of sitting on top of motor compartment in my van.

When i turn the power on it just keeps flashing Garmin.

You can try three things to try and get the Nuvi to start normally:

1) soft reset: Press the power-on button for at least 20 seconds - starting from power off. It should restart.

2) master reset: This will revert to factory defaults erasing all POI's, Favourites, Tracks, Routes etc. From power-off hold the lower right corner for at least 20 seconds while pressing the power-on button once. A question should appear to erase all user data. Press yes and it will revert to factory defaults.

3) Connect a USB cable in power off. Connect it to a PC / Mac which is also powered down. Start the PC/MAC - the Garmin Nuvi should start in communication mode. Connect to the internet and load and try to update the software version to the latest one (if available). If necessary install the Garmin communication plug-in in the webbrowser.

The device does not pick up current location. It defaults to a location 700km away from where I am. Also, the time is incorrect - how do I change the time.

i dont see a brand so i will give a genrealized answer.
By current location i assume the opening screen display reverts to a default location which is what location it was initially set at or is a default in the unit. Most GPS give you an option to set Your STATE and home location. this is usually in SETTINGS Menu. The time and data are also changable inthe same area using you country location and then the State and any daylight savings offset that might apply. These are sometimes, volatile as there is no power to keep these settings alive when in off mode only in standby mode. the button on front of unit. If the master on/off is selected your settings weill revert back to default so its wise to keep it well charged if you use it every day and want to maintain your preferred settings. Hope that helps you

May be you decide this problem?

when this happened to me, the battery was absolutely drained. Charge the hell out of it, plug it into your computer and turn it off, ie put it charge mode. ALternatively try this

If you are having issues with new software and you need to revert back to an older software version please go to the link below. You will able to choose your unit and revert back to the software the unit was on before the update. Please let me know the outcome of reverting back to the old software and whether this recifys the issues the latest software brought. This is good for us to know as we can look into any bugs there may be in the current software for this unit. Thank you

No, there is nothing wrong with your screen. The unit automatically zooms in and out depending on how far you are from where you need to make your next turn/change in direction. It cannot be "corrected", this is the way the unit is designed.
