How much plumbers putty do I bead around when installing a repacement?

I recommend between 1/4 to 1/2 inch bead of plumbers putty. Slightly flatten the bead on the strainer pushing a little past the outer edge then press it firmly into sink and remove any excess from below sink before installing rubber ring and lock nut tighten firmly but do not over tighten adust drain to center in hole retighten slightly if necessary and remove any excess putty from around drain. Hope this helps.

When installing do you silicone each piece for example the faucet , the soap dispenser ,the sprayer , and the tap

Hi seawitch678,

If you have a granite or stone countertop/sink, use silicone as plumber's putty will stain the stone. Plumber's putty is petroleum based so it will not adhere to stone. Normally you should use what the manufacturer recommends and where they recommend. When installing a faucet, put either around the base of any piece that goes through the countertop.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

I have a pegasus sink and I'm having a hard time getting the drain not to leak. The base of sink if thicker in the front than the back so when we tighten the drain it will only tighten so much in the back...

You need to take it off copletly and clean it then take 100% clear silicon put it down on the sink base and on th e bottem lipe of the basket strainer tighten down till silicon sqeezes out top of sink wipe with paper towel and wate 24 hours befor use.

Both of the Pegasus baskets in my sink have come apart. I put them back together and they come apart again. I would like to purchase new baskets, but can only find the entire drain assembly, which I do...

I know what you mean I had similar problems with my sink strainers, unfortunately is you want to get a good working basket you have to buy the whole drain assembly. You can get some cheap ones at a home store but they will only break again and probably won't match up. What I recommend is swapping out your drains with a drain brand that won't break again like Kohler, Moen, or Elkay. All you need to install a new drain is the new drains, a drain nut removal tool and some plumbers putty. Take the old drain out clean around the whole and install the new one with a ring of plumbers putty around the hole.

I have a kohler cast iron enamel sink. The

ALL BASKET STRAINERS ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME. PLUMBERS PUTTY WORKS FINE. I BELIEVE ITS THE ORDER OF INSTALL THAT IS CAUSING THE LEAKS. STRAINER AND RUBBER GASKET GOES IN FROM THE TOP. IF NO RUBBER GASKET IS PROVIDED, THEN PLUMBERS PUTTY WILL SUFFICE. UNDERNEATH, ANOTHER RUBBER GASKET AND/OR PAPER GASKET, THEN THREAD ON THE NUT. TIGHTEN IT SNUGLY.
