Problem for T-Mobile Dash Smartphone

When replacing the screen on my dash there is a round metal piece attatched by two wires at the bottom of the phone. the wire was so brital it snapped. what does this piece controll. Do I need it? My keyboard now doesn't work so I'm assuming thats what it controls.

You need to get a phone for parts preferably one that has a broken lcd then switch out the parts you need.
