If you're only running a 32bit computer the max capacity of RAM that it can detect is only up to 3GIG so that can be the reason now why its only showing that RAM on your system....

This has to do with windows and your video card. I assume your running windows xp. This is perfectly normal. If you upgraded to vista it would show the full 4gb. If you have any other questions let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

No its not the video card at all. It just has to with the architecture of XP and the maximum memory it reads in windows. If you found my information helpful please take a moment to accept my solution.
    Thanks again,

Non-stop beep sound and won't display

A constant beep, usually indicates the post is detecting no memory installed. This is usually caused by the memory not being installed correctly or incompatible memory. double check you have the correct memory for this mother board. If you have 2 chips, install one and test. If this does not work swap the memory and try again. If both chips fail, you might try a different brand of memory.

Go to this website: http://www.driverstock.com/ASUS-A8N-SLI-Premium-driver-download/6-9-10198/index.html

Near the bottom half of the site you should see a list of drivers, these are the drivers that the CD would have contained. I've included a few pictures, the drivers circled in red are the ones you need to download for Windows XP, if you are using Windows 7 then just reply to this solution saying so and I will get back to you about it.

939 pin Athlon 64 X2 / Athlon 64 FX / Athlon 64 are the supported CPU's.
For the SLI connector, it's a 2 1/2 inch connector. (63.5mm).

Problem adding Additional Ram to my Asus A8N SLI DELUXE system

Just because BIOS is recognizing the RAM doesn't necessarily mean it is usable. Also, ASUS recommends that you have the same amount of RAM in each bank. Another point they make is that your motherboard does not support double-sided DIMM chips.

I would refer to the manual for their specific instructions on proper RAM configuration:

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket939/A8N-SLI%20Premium/e2435_a8n-sli_premium.pdf

If you are concerned that the memory stick might be bad, swap it out with one of your older ones, and see if your system boots and performs as it should. If not, then you know it is bad. My guess is that if you populate the memory slots with 4 gb, the system will recognize and make all of it available to you.

Cheers
Nick

To recognize more than 3.5GB RAM you must use a 64 bit operating system
ordinary 32 bit O/S only recognize max of 3.25 to 3.5GB ram

Asus A8N sli Premium - sli problems

I went through your bios manual three times & did not come across a setting that gives you the option as you listed above.
What I did come across & triple checked your Manual Pg. 2-28 section 14. Asus EZ selector card connector (144-pin SLI_CON.
When using two PCIE SLI cards make sure the card is seated correctly & set for Dual Video Cards. (extreamly important).
Pg. 4-34, section 4.4.9 SLI mode Recommend kepping to Auto. Than the Bios detects the setting of theSLI selector card.
Refering to the sentance above the manual recommends all settings be set to Auto. Your Bios will do the rest. If for unknown reason you no longer have your manual you can download it from Asus. You'll need to fill in the 3 windows under, Please Select the Product.
