Question about Sony DVP-S725D DVD Player

4 Answers

Hi had my sony dvp s725d from new 1999 and loved it, the problem is it switched off during playback, i thought it was a blown fuse but umpteen fuses later i came to the conclusion that it hadn't blown at all, had a look inside no evidence of burning anywhere or smell , still no joy it won't turn on! is it likely to be the transformer or a faulty standby switch or other fault??

The power supply is no longer available as a replacement part from Sony. This should be a straightforward repair for a shop. These units use a switch-mode supply. These supplies have very common failire types that are easily found and fixed by an experienced tech. Where are you located? Expect a parts cost in the $25 range for this repair.

First check the power supply after it has reduced the voltage and DC supply. That circuit is at fault & change it if available.......................sodeep

SOURCE: Sony DVP SMPS unit fault

Hello,
You can get complete power supply as one part from Sony. You can't repair it on component level because components are not available.

No power to front panel but have power to main unit.

You Have constant power (yellow wire) but your Acc wire or switched power wire (RED WIRE) does not have power. Check the connection of this wire. You most likely have a blown fuse in your vehicles fuse panel.
