Camera wont connect to my computer

Hello.
the camera won't connect to my laptop. everytime i plug it in, it tells me to insert the disc that came with it so it can find the hardware for it, then it says there was no hardware on it. I have already installed all the programs that came with it but it stil isn't working. when i try and get photos through the program it came with it says "there is no TWAIN driver installed"
thanks

Here are the ioerating instructions for your

Panasonic Lumix DNC-FX12

Page 81 describes the installation process and only Win98 and Win98SE seem to require special software installs for the camera. What operating system are you running on your computer? Was it the original operating system or was it upgraded or reinstalled? If so you may be missing some drivers -- like USB drivers the camera may need please provide he manufacturer and model of your computer so we can begin a search for possible missing drivers in a comment to this message. IF your operating system is not Win98 or Win98SE even if it was not reloaded or updated you should consider providing the manufacturer and model of you computer because you may require updated drivers.

This is not a sure solution but investigating the driver situation could be a step in the right direction.

Thanks

It could be you need to uninstall the driver and plug the camera in first and allow the laptop to install the software automatically.

My kodak camera takes pictures but wont download to the computer. i never had a problem with until now. what could be the problem?

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
