Take the side panels off of the computer, and use a flaslight to look inside the case towards the front. you should see about 4-8 white plastic "fingers" or clips....you CAREFULLY fold these back, while pushing the through the holes that they come in through, and eventually the front panel will fall off. watch out for the wires that MIGHT be attached to the front panel too, as if you break these or their connectors, your case will need serious repair, and might be ruined. as far as the clips go, its easier if you do 2 at a time.

Does a compaq presario 5000 support flash drives

Yes, it does.

The Compac Presario 5000 series have between 2 and 4 USB 1.1 Ports.
Note here that the ports are version 1.1, which is considerably slower that version 2.0.
USB 1.1: 12 MBits/second
USB 2.0: 480 MBits/second

Aside form the speed, they are both compatible with your computer.

Your disk-drive has failed.
So, your computer tried to boot itself over the Ethernet network,
by "broadcasting" a request for booting. When either the network-cable was _NOT_ connected, or when _NO_ computer responded to the "broadcast" message, you get "PXE: media failure".

Take your computer to a qualified technician,
to remove the "dead" disk-drive,
to replace the disk-drive,
and to reinstall Windows.

Not getting drivers for compaq presario laptop

You can find drivers at www.hp.com. Pick "Support & Drivers" then put the model number of your computer into the search box and you'll get the downloads available.

Note that "Presario" is just the generic name for that series of computer. You'll need the actual model number (5BW24, 5001R, etc.) which will be on a sticker somewhere on the case. Don't forget to look behind the flip-down CD compartment door on the front of some models. The label is sometimes hidden inside.

Removing microsoft works 2000

yes, you can remove it, if you do not need it.
It will have no effect on the memory, however it will give you more hard disk space. Run defrag afterward.
