Trying to hook-up new Philips DVDR3575H

We have the Zenith with Directv and a DVDP/VCR which worked great. We were hooked-up satellite -> VCR -> TV. We just bought a DVDR and have hooked-up and, per the instructions, need to find the external input channel by entering '2' with the TV remote and pressing the channel down until the DVDR "Initial Setup menu" displays - it never does. We no longer have the original remote or the user manual. What do we need to do?

No picture--went tru a check with the Satellite companay with no luck. They concluded it must be the TV. TV had been working fine.

There is one easy way to check this, if you have a dvd player or vcr handy and hook it up and test it, that would tell you if the Satellite is the problem "which it commonly is" or if it actually is the tv.

Would hooking up a dvd player,a vcr and a converter box cause the tv to smoke?

The short answer is simply no. If your TV made smoke, it probably has or will quit working, but it was not caused by hooking up a DVD player, a VCR and a converter box.

Just trying to hook up a new DVD player to my 1998 Zenith TV?

Connect your video source [cable, satellite, etc] to your dvd and connect your dvd to your tv. Get back if you still have a problem.

We are unable to get video (picture) on our TV, when we hook up to our new DVD/VCR combo. The combo doesn't have an S-video port and our TV does. We get perfect sound though.

Your TV should also have a regular composite video input jack (yellow) in addition to the s-video input. Use that input instead of the s-video. The video won't be quite as clear as with s-video, but you have to work with what the combo gives you.

Cant get dvd to operate

Have you changed the TV input to AUX? If there is a VCR hooked up with your satellite box it has to be on Line or Aux too. Make sure these are in place before trying the DVD player

Hooking up a convertor , when i have a vcr, dvd player

You can hook it up through the antennae system. Keep your dvr connected to the tv the way you had it. Hook up your TV rabbit ears antennae to the converter box in the connection on the left side of the box. Then hook up the antennae lead from the converter box to your TV on the right side connector. The only thing I'm wondering is, do you get stereo sound this way and does anyone know how to get it without hooking up the separate audio and video plugs? There aren't enough connections on the tv to hook up both sets.

Memorex television is not working with my new Phillips DVD/VCR combo

depending on how you hooked it up; if thru coax cable the you have to use channel 3 or 4 on the tv to use Philips. If you are connecting with video and audio cables then you have to select a/v input on tv to use.

Zenith system 3 tv will not turn on

I'd say just get a stereo system (amplifier) or something like that, and hook your cable box, vcr, converter or whatever you have right into that. That's what I've been doing for years. Most cable boxes and satellite boxes will control the main volume that goes to the sound output, or you can get a digital stereo with a remote to control the volume that way.
