    1. Do you have your own wireless router? You cannot just fire up your pc and expect to connect to a wireless network if you do not have one. It is illegal to connect to a network without permission. 2. Do you have wireless security enabled on it? If you have WEP enabled (for example) it will not connect unless you supplied it with a password. 3. To see if it is wireless pc, (IF you have a laptop) take it to your local library and try to connect. The library connection is usually free access. If it connects than you pc is fine. 4. IF you have a wireless network, see if any other pc can connect to it.

Reset the router back to its original default settings, by holding the reset button on the unit, while the unit is on......making sure to hold the button in for atleast 20 seconds. then log back into the router and reconfigure it as necessary. it is possible that the router reset with WEP encryption enabled, in which case, you can either disable that under "wireless security" or specify your new passphrase and write down your WEP keys, so you can use your router wirelessly.....also, make sure the router is set to DHCP. if it needs to be set to static, then you're going to have to specify your IP addresses for each connecting computer manually, as well as the IP info for the ISP you have.

also, make sure that each connecting computer is set to automatically acquire IP and DNS adresses. if so, restart the connecting computer, and you might consider resetting your DSL or cable modem if you have one. if this doesnt fix the issue, then there is either something wrong with the IP info you have inside the router, or your computer isnt configured properly for wireless, in which case, just let me know and i will gladly walk you through the process of configuration.

also, you might try to connect to the wired side of the router (with an ethernet cable) and see if you have internet access that way. this will give you a better idea of what exactly the problem is weith the router. if the ethernet cable wont let you access the internet either, its an IP issue, modem issue or the router is just bad.

The steps to resolve this issue on a product that you want to set up with a wireless connection and on a product that you want to set up with a wired, or Ethernet, connection differ slightly. Depending on the connection type you want to set up, select one of the following methods, and then follow the steps provided to resolve the issue.Method one: Resolve the error on a product that uses a wireless connectionStep one: Print a network configuration page
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Remove the phone or Internet cable that is connected to the back of the wireless router. Do not reconnect this cable until instructed to do so.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product. If the product does not turn on automatically, press the On button (c00636182.gif ) to turn the product on.
  4. Make sure that the blue Wireless light is on. If the Wireless light is not on, press theWireless button on the front panel of the product to turn wireless on.

  6. On the network configuration page, check the Network Connection Status line. If the status entry reads Ready , continue with 'Step two: Set the product IP information in the Embedded Web Server (EWS).' If the status entry reads anything else, continue with the next step.
  7. Press the Setup button (c01726396.gif ) on the product control panel, select Network , and then select Wireless Setup Wizard . Follow the instructions in the wizard to complete the configuration.
  8. When the Wireless Setup Wizard is complete, press and hold the Cancel button for several seconds. The network configuration page prints.

    • IP Address
    • Subnet Mask
    • Default Gateway
note.pngNOTE:Each of these addresses is in the IP address format. For example, 192.168.1.100 is an IP address. Make sure that you note the numbers and the dots exactly as they appear on the network configuration page.

The one that is missing in the network is the printer. So try to reconfigure the IP of the printer again using the wireless wizard in the printer manager. Or go to Using the HP Network Diagnostic Utility in Windows - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Also ; Very seldom does the printer itself cause problems. To determine if you have printer trouble, do the following:
  • If you're using a wireless connection, see if the wireless indicator lamp is illuminated? Can you turn on the wireless radio from the control panel of the printer?
  • Print a Network Configuration page and a Wireless Network Test report from your printer's control panel, if available.
    • Does the Wireless Network Test report indicate trouble?
    • Does the report indicate that the printer is connected to your wireless router, and not to a neighbor's? The network name the printer is connected to will be shown on the both the Network Configuration page and Wireless Network Test report.
    • Compare the printer's IP address [X]
      IP address
An IP address is a series of numbers by which computers, printers and other devices on a network are known. An IP address is usually issued by the local wireless router (network) from its DHCP service. A device is given an IP address that is similar to the wireless router's IP address. For example, if the wireless router's IP address is 192.168.1.1, a printer may be given an IP address of 192.168.1.5. to the gateway IP address [X]
      Gateway IP address
This is the IP address of your wireless router. . They should have a similar format (for example, the gateway IP address might be 192.168.0.1 and the printer IP address 192.168.0.5). If the printer has an IP address similar to 169.254.XXX.XXX, it probably is not connected to your wireless network.
    • On some printers, the Network Configuration page will list all wireless networks detected in your area. Is your network listed among those found? Does it have good signal strength?
    • Are there several wireless networks on your same channel or using channels close to your channel? You should use a channel at least 5 channels away from the closest used channel. Consider changing your wireless router's channel to 1, 6 or 11.
  • Are there any error messages on the printer or unexpected blinking lights (consult your manual to determine what to expect)?
  • Reset your printer (usually by removing the power cord from the back of the printer, waiting 30 seconds and then reconnecting the cord. Consult your manual for specifics).
  • Restart your wireless router [X]
    Wireless router
A wireless router is networking hardware that allows both wired and wireless devices to connect to a network. When connected to a wireless router, devices such as computers, printers, and other Wi-Fi enabled electronics can share one Internet connection AND connect to each other. Connections can be made to the wireless router through a wireless connection or a wired connection using an Ethernet cable. by unplugging the power cord, waiting 60 seconds, then reconnecting the cord to the wireless router.

Limited or no connectivity

When your computer does not get IP address from the router, you get the message " limited or no connectivity ". There might be 2 possible reasons for this . 1) If your wireless network is secured then you are not entering the correct network key. Open the set up page of the router and check the wireless settings of the router .
2 ) Your router is giving the IP address to the rotuer.
Open the set up page of the router and check , the DHCP server is enabled or not ? It should be enabled.

You are entering the corerct network key and DHCP server is enabled, but still getting the same message. Assign a static IP address to the computer.

Get rid of AOL network magic. I'm not familiar with either but I do know it's designed to help people who have no idea how to setup a home network. Log on to the routers cofiguration page and look at the router status to determine what the issue is. i.e is the router dropping the internet connection or is the router not connecting properly to your computers? If your using static IP addresses then you will need to re-configure these for the new router. Start by switching back to dynamic IP on all devices connecting to the router. It may always be a firmware issue with the router. If these steps don't work try updating the firmware (there should be an option in the config page (192.168.1.1)
