Question about Kenmore 46462 Front Load Washer

Item lodged under drum Kenmore HE2 46462

A lighter is lodged under the drum. I can see it if I pull back the bellows but I can't get it in the right direction to remove. How can I access the area around the silver drum? I asked before but misspelled access so the reply was to see it.

Take the back off the washer lay the drain hose down into a bucket so that the water drains out

Check to see where the main drain hose comes out of the bottom of the outer container

Lay the machine down onto some cushions so that the hose opening is nearest to the floor

Take off the clip securing the hose , place a cloth under the pipe and pull it off

You should then be able to go fishing for the item

Good Luck

When I go and try to run the cleaning cycle, the machine will start to spin, then puts no water in and after about a minute en rL error is display. Some time the clean cycle will start with out a problem...

"rL" indicates a garment has been detected inside the wash tub. Garments are detected by weight. The wash tub must remain empty during a Clean Cycle. If you inspect the wash tub and it appears to be clear, inspect the area around the door bellow (rubber door seal) for loose items. It is common for small garments, such as socks and underwear to get lodged in the rubber folds. Pull back the folds around the door and inspect the perimeter of the seal. If you need further guidance please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Need part number for rubber boot on my kenmore elite HE3t washer

The part number is 8182119 and can be viewed at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look for item number 5 under the "Door and Latch Parts" heading. In addition, you may not need them, but just in case, you may consider the inner and outer bellow clamps that hold the door seal in place. This are items 6 and 14 under the same heading. Sometimes they become damaged. If you need instructions on how to replace the door bellow, the following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385210-replacing_door_bellow_kenmore_elite

If you have any questions along the way, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: You can find this part a little cheaper at appliancepartspros.com. Just use the "Search By Part Number" selection as your search criteria.

To keep the new bellow from mildewing, it is recommended by the manufacturer that you leave the washer door open while not in use and to periodically clean the bellow. Pull back the rubber folds in the door and make sure you do not have anything stuck that will cause odors and mildew. Small garments such as socks and underwear can commonly get stuck in this area of the door. Also, if you do not routinely use hot water, it is recommended that you run a "clean" cycle with a small amount of bleach about once a month to kill any bacteria.

My HE2 front loading washing machine smells

The first thing to do is to CHECK IN AND AROUND THE RUBBER DOOR BOOT (called a bellow) for small articles of clothing (like socks and underwear) that may have gotten lodged in behind the rubber. Pull the rubber back where it meets the wash tub and look behind it. It is common for small items to get stuck here, become forgotten and start to mildew. You should check this area after each wash and clean it periodically to get rid of the formation of soap scum, mold, and mildew. HINT: When you get ready to wash a load of towels, take a dirty towel and clean the door boot thoroughly (including the areas behind the rubber). Immediately place the towel in the wash and run it on a sanitary cycle. This way you eliminate the need for cleaning rags.

PERIODICALLY RUN THE WASHER ON A CLEANING CYCLE. Place the washer on the hottest setting you have (usually a Sanitary cycle) with nothing but bleach in the wash tub. Some newer models actually have a “Clean Cycle” available now just for this purpose. This helps keep the wash tub, drain lines and pump sanitized.

CHECK AND CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER. Accumulations of debris in the drain pump filter can also cause odors. HINT: If you own a shop vac, pull the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum on the line. This will drain any residual water left in the tub, pump and drain lines BEFORE you remove the drain pump cover. This will prevent a messy clean up later.

LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN IF POSSIBLE. When not in use, leave the door open to allow the tub to air out and to keep mold and mildew from forming on the door bellow. I know this may not be desirable in some households with small children. If too much mildew forms on the rubber and it cannot be removed, replacement of the bellow may be required.

NOTE: This problem is common with front loader style washing machines. The doors on these machines have an air tight/water tight seal that is great for sealing the washer during the wash cycle, but can be terrible for collecting small garments and for not allowing the tub to properly air out when not in use. Following these simple preventive measures can go a long way towards preventing harmful mold and mildew, and towards extending the life of the door bellow and pump.

If it's stackable, you'll want to start by removing the dryer.
Open the door and remove the outer bellow spring around the bellow to release it from the cabinet lip. At this point lean the machine back to give more space between the drum and the cabinet.
Remove the kickplate for easier access and to visually check for leaks later.
At the top/right of the bellows (close to the tub) loosen the bellow to tub clamp and pull out the bellow.
Install the new bellow starting at the top by aligning the marks. Work your way around until bellows is properly seated snug against the tub.
Replace the tub to bellow clamp and tighten it (make sure the bellow stays snug against the tub while tightening the clamp). Once in place, lay the machine back to level and reinstall the front of the bellows to the cabinet with the outer bellow spring clamp.
With towels handy (just in case), let the machine fill and agitate for a few minutes and check for water leaks. If all is well, re-install the kickplate and wash some laundry.
Good luck!

Alright first I would check the level front to back and get a linen bag designed for the smaller items. Second I would test the basket by pulling slightly and lfting, if no wobbles then ok try push pull to check for a loose spindle at the flywheel on the back.
