Unfortunately, you can leave the unit unplugged for about an hour and try again. otherwise, you'll have to either exchange the unit, or call sony and go through their warranty process. this is the only problem that PS3s have that compares to the "red-ring" issue of the 360s.....fortunately for PS3 owners, this is the only thing they would have to worry about. to the best of my recollection, it has something to do with the internal HDD of the PS3, as sometimes, the HDD controller just "goes out". there really isnt anything you can do except for calling sony. sorry :(

Previous answer could be right, but before you go sending your beloved PS3 off to a workshop somewhere, you should try resetting the graphics settings. To do this, turn off your PS3, then press AND HOLD on the Power Symbol for some time until you hear the beeps, and the green power indicator should flash green for a second or so. This should only be necessary if you change from HDMI to Component or vice versa, but it's a decent idea, instead of having to call in the Sony boys.

Nothing happens. No light and everything is connected right. Before it became like this it would not turn on. It had red light, would turn green for a sec then back to red. Now nothing.

Sorry friend, you will have to call sony and get them to repair it. Is it under warranty still? if so then you are in luck, just go to the playstation website and contact them with the provided phone number and they will send you a box to ship the ps3 back to them. If it is not under warranty it will cost you approx 180 to get it fixed. There is nothing you can do to fix it yourself.

When i turn my ps3 on,red light goes green then red right away

Try disconnecting your PS3 and then for 10 seconds if that doesn't work, disconnect all jackets meaning all usb connection ports connected in it. Remove them, then turn on your ps3 see what happens (without using the controller), then disconnect the ps3 cord that connects to your extension cord or jacket and plug it back in. Try it again. Then again with the controller could try. Try disconnecting other ports such as other stuff like as listed, Irons,Fans, etc.           !!!!!!DON'T USE TOO MUCH POWER!!!!

The Same thing happened to me on my Wii though.

If nothing works call Customer Support (SONY)

PS3 Yellow light

There is nothing wrong with the PS3. I read in the users manual that when the the green light on the PS3 turns yellow or flashes yellow the PS3 is too hot and you need to turn it off. It has never happened to me because I keep my PS3 in a open area.

When the PS3 gets to hot you need to let it sit and cool for a little while and then you can turn it back on and start playing again. If the PS3 cools for a while and it still doesn't work you need to call Sony.
