Spray hairspray onto cotton and wipe off. Then wipe out the hairspray with a clean damp cloth before drying again.

A pen exploded in the dryer and I cannot remove the ink from inside the drum.

Hello 5.....
  1. Turn the dryer off and remove any laundry from inside the drum.

  2. Unplug the dryer.

  3. Dampen a paper towel with rubbing alcohol.

  4. Scrub the ink stain with the dampened towel. Repeat, if necessary, with a fresh towel dampened with rubbing alcohol, to remove all the ink.

  5. Wipe the area with a cloth dampened with water, to remove any alcohol residue.

  6. If the stain persists, soak a white rag with rubbing alcohol or hairspray and scrub the stain. It may take repeated applications to dissolve the ink. Joe

Somehow a ball point pen went into the dryer. I now have ink on the inside of the drum. What can I do to get the ink off the drum. It should be noted that the dryer weny through a complete cycle before...

You may have to experiment with solvents to find one that will remove the bulk of the ink. Start with rubbing alcohol, then try a mineral spirits (paint thinner) or WD-40 oil, and finally some acetone. Make sure there are no sparks or fire nearby while using these solvents. Be sure to clean the areas with a spray cleaner after any success to remove a lingering smell. You may have some permanent stain left that will just have to wear off, but shouldn't affect your clothes. Hope this helps!

Hairspray is an excellent solution to the ballpoint pen ink problem. Buy the cheapest you can find and spray, let the spray sit on the spots for a few seconds and wipe with a paper towel. Keep doing this until the spot is removed. This also works on fabrics as well. As a former teacher, my red grading pen ruined several of my white shirts. I used my husband's $1.29 can of hairspray and saved over $100 in garments. He was pretty angry about my using all his hairspray but when I pointed out the money saved by not having to purchase new blouses, he relented. I keep a can of hairspray in my laundry room at all times.

Stain in dryer

This will work. Soak white towel or other white fabric in bleach water, then slightly wring them out, leaving very wet. Then put them in dryer, on low or fluff cycle. Run for 60 minutes or more. This should rub off all the ink in the dryer. You may have to repeat if you have alot of ink. I have done this a few times and it has always work, good luck.

I forgot to empty pocket. a ball point pen exploded and i have ink all over the inside of my dryer. I have not found anything to remove it. Any suggestions?

Try aerosol hair spray. It removes dried ink from clothes, may also work for your dryer. If not, try paint thinner or mineral spirits, available at any hardware store.

Ink in the dryer

Rubbing alcohol will work to remove most of it if you use alot of elbow grease.

What I found worked the best and quickest was a Mr Clean Magic Eraser wetted acetone nail polish remover. Leave the dryer door open to let it air dry, then put a couple of white towels soaked in bleach water and run the dryer on a non-heat cycle to remove any remaining smudges.

To be paranoid, I then ran the same towels through the washer and dryed them on high heat to make sure there was no ink I missed that might ruin any further clothes.
