Question about Lexmark Wireless X4850 All-In-One Inkjet Printer
I am running Vista Home 32 bit and have a Lexmark X4850. It will not communicate with the printer from either wireless or USB. I got it to print a test page from both, but that was one time after a ''successful'' installation. I can't get it to print anything now. It will not even print a test page. I now get a message, “problem communicating with the printer.” I uninstalled the software, rebooted, and reinstalled the software with the downloaded file, “cjb4800en.” Driver did not install even though I got a “printer installed successfully” message. There is no printer in Network/Printers and no printer listed in Device manager. Lexmark 4800 Series program shows in the Start menu. I ran the Wireless Configuration Utility, got another “successful” installation message with no results. I checked the pop-up screen on the printer under “Network Setup” and printed a Network Settings page. It says the printer is “Connected,” Mac Address is good, IP address is good, TCP/IP is all on and good. Wireless shows, “Infrastructure.” SSID is the same as the router. Quality says, “Good.” A Ping of the computer IP address and Gateway was successful. I uninstalled the software again, as well as every running program, including my firewall, anti-virus/anti-spyware and reinstalled the printer again using the disc that came with my printer. This time, the printer shows up in control panel/printers, but nothing shows up in the Device manager. My firewall shows the Printer communication system and Printer Device Monitor. I bought this printer from the Gazaro web site, but can’t find the purchase receipt. If I can’t get this thing running, I’m throwing it out the window and will never buy a Lexmark again! This is the third all-in-one wireless printer I’ve had with my current laptop and the only one I’ve had trouble with. I’m told it’s actually a Vista problem, but I don’t see how.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be
achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect
the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer

2. Re-brick your printer.

back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/lY7NTO. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. After the install process, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
