Depends on the key, but you should just be able to push it back on. But is you see any broken plastic, you need a new keyboard.

Won' start up properly

Hello, you might be having an issue with a Peripheral Device in the computer, conflicting with it to boot up, please disconnect any USB devices, port replicators, or printers/scanner on the serial ports, if this solves the issue and you're able to access your computer, please reinstall the drivers for those devices, you can test each one of them to see wich one is the troublemaker.
Additionally if you don't have any peripherals connected, then please try to boot up in safe mode, to do so, please restart the computer, then when you see the Dell Logo, press the F8 key at start up, then please chose the safe mode option, and press enter. If you are able to enter safe mode, then please press the keys [Windows] + [R] and in the screen that pops up, type "msconfig", without quotes, go to the Startup tap and select, disable all. Afterwars restart the computer and let us know if it worked.

Hi i need help with my dell laptop

If the computer came with the restore "Partition" instead of disks, you can re-set it to the original factory settings. When the computer starts and you see the DELL logo press the CTRL key and the F11 key at the same time, then follow the prompts.

Trying to restore Dell Inspiron 1501 to factory settings.

don't hit ctrl, f11 instead hit F8 and then go into Dell Factory Image Restore, that will wipe, format and reinstall all the factory software that's stored on the Recovery Drive (usually the D: drive) good luck.

Dell Inspiron 1501 key stuck but not.

The most valuable test you can perform now is to buy or borrow a usb keyboard. If the problem persists with the external keyboard then it is reasonable to conclude that the problem is software based. If the problem disappears then, if the unit is still under warranty send it in ASAP.
I have experienced 2 notebook keyboard hardware failures over the past 5 years. If you are outside of warranty, you may choose to use a usb keyboard as more more cost effective solution.
If the problem is software based, have you attempted to reinstall your software in a stepwise manner checking for the problems recreatability?
