Yes, you are right. I read it in the http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownloa.... I dunno what DDR 266/200 DDR SDRAM meant though.. What I have right now is a DDR 1 PC 3200 at 256 MB for each slot and as I understand this is a DDR 400..What I need to know is if I could still take out one 256 MB Ram from one of the slot and replace it with a 1 Gig PC 3200 DDR 1. Will it be compatible even with another brand but same specs? Or at the least would it pose a problem if I take out both the existing RAM and just replace it with a 1 Gig PC 3200 DDR 1. Thanks again for the quick reply. Actually, I initially have only one 256 MB RAM installed here. I just took the other 256 Mb RAM from my other pc. Luckily though, I have the same PC 3200 DDR Ram with the same brand name Ram Bo in both pc. But the problem is when a 1 gig of RAM was upgraded to the other pc ( where I took the 256 MB from), it functioned for 2 days, after which it failed to start and was emitting sound. Do you think this is caused by the RAM?

New ram memory on dell dimension celeron trying to

You should check with the folks at Dell since whoever wrote their technical manuals for this machine can't do basic math. There are 2 memory slots and each can handle a maximum capacity of 512MB, yet they claim the maximum capacity for the machine is 2GB instead of 1GB. Using 512MB modules would probably work.

Which RAM to use for Soltek SL-75DRV/-v

Leif: The difference in the numbers (2700 versus 3200) is speed rating-- basically, the higher the number the faster the RAM. Your computer is currently using 2700, so it's safe to use 3200, it's just faster than is currently used/specified.
Your computer is a Socket A - AMD Via-based board, so it is likely the motherboard will accept 1 GB memory modules. With three slots open, you would want to buy 2, 1-GB modules for best results. At current pricing, that would cost about $100. 2- 512MB modules would be next-best and around $55. Be sure to place the two modules in the slots next to each other, and closest to the processor for best results.
