Hi My Western Digital 500GB My Book World Edition

Hi. My Western Digital 500GB My Book World Edition 500 GB Hard Drive looses Ethernet connectivity and sometimes won't power up fully. Starts to boot and then stops. Checked power supply is ok. Any ideas?

That sounds like a head crash. You should take to a service center and get it fixed and/or inspected.

Connect that to your PC. Go to MyComputer. Right click on the drive and select properties. Select tools tab and click on defragment now. This will start defrag process.

Its just optional if you like to use a Ethernet cable for this device , for us long the device is connected via USB its definitely fine....

I can not link up with My Book World Edition 500GB

That is because the MyBook is set with a default IP address of 192.168.1.257. You will have to put a static IP address in that subnet range in order to be able to see the external drive. Hope this helps....
