Question about Televison & Video
The part that is faulty is called Inverter Board.
The inverter board is an high voltage board that gets DC power from Digital Controller Board (main board inside your LCD), and supplies AC voltage to the backlight lamp system.
If you are a technician, then you can test the inverter reading voltages in on wiring harness to digital board (CN 803-804 on service manual), and reading high voltages out (set multimeter to AC) on inverter output to backlight system (lamps). Digital board is the main board inside the LCD TV. For safety reasons this tests must not be done by not trained users.
Here inverter PSU (CN803) connector Pinout on mainboard, and also Conn 804 is still inverter, it is power to inverter from main board:
Pins 1, 2, 3 ,4 5: +24V Pin 6,7,8,9,10 : GND
test 1 , 4, and 5 , 2 and 3 are analogic dim.
You will find out that there is no power to the lamp.
If there is no volts on inverter input connector, on digital board, Then digital controller board is faulty, but this is rare and unusual (read volts on board connector pins, not wiring harness).
Usually the problem is the faulty inverter.
To test the inverter completely you will need an oscilloscope. Normally the inverter is not serviced at component level, but just replaced straight away.
An inverter convert DC to AC using a set of oscilloscopes, when one of them is faulty, or one of the capacitors on inverter board is defective, the inverter may come on for one second and then fail.
If you want to test the inverter at component level, then you will need the Service Manual. You can download service manual with full schematics here: Download.
