If it's only 1 game then you either need to do a system update by connecting it to the internet or get another copy of the game.
However, if it's not reading any disks...
The only thing you can do about this is get it repaired through Microsoft. Depending on if it's under warranty, or how much they want if it's not, the cheaper solution could be to locate a used system, buy it and transfer the hard drive.

Disc tray does not work

If the disk tray just does not opens ..It may be blocked for some reasons and the action is to insert a paper clip in the hole on the tray ..and manually open it ,,, Do this a few time and see what keeps it from opening .9It may be a disk inserted wrongly ..
If the tray is opening well but when you insert the disk it is not seen by the laptop ..Than the issue is either a defective disk drive ..and it needs to be changed in this case ..or ..it is a problem with its driver ..and reinstalling the operation system will fix the issue ..
in the last case the disk drive will even no longer appear in the computer folder ..and the problem is cased by a virus that attacks the drivers for optical drives..It may seam that reinstalling the driver alone will fix the issue ..but will not last ..The system is already affected and the issue will get back after restart or ..after a few minutes..i had the problem before and the only thing that works is reinstalling the OS from scratch ..or use a recovery partition or disk ..and do that ..
In case it does not read the disk outside of windows too ..it means you need another disk drive cause it is corrupted .

What Is It? The Disc Read error is a simple one. It simply means that the Xbox is unable to read the disc that you have placed in the drive. In the majority of instances, this error has nothing to do with the functionality of the console, but, rather, hinges on the actual disc that has been inserted into the DVD tray.
Disc-Related Errors The most common reason for Disc Read errors are related to the disc itself. Numerous conditions can keep the laser from reading the information contained within the game, DVD or CD in the DVD drive.
  • The disc is scratched - Game discs, audio CDs and DVDs can become scratched very easily. Usually this is because they have not been kept in their cases, but left in the open. Simply resting two discs atop one another can scratch the bottom disc. If discs are sufficiently scratched, the data contained on them will be inaccessible to the drive.
  • The disc is dirty/dusty - Dirt and dust can build up on the faces of discs left exposed. When sufficient dirt or dust has built up, it can block the laser beam used to read the disc, resulting in a Disc Read error.
  • The disc is the incorrect region - DVDs come in formats called "regions." These regions match the region specified in the software of the DVD player. Some games also have these regions. If the region of the DVD and that of the player do not match, the disc will not play.
Can I Fix These Errors? Repairing disc-related issues may or may not be possible. If the cause is simply dirt and dust, you can certainly repair the disc. However, if the cause is due to extreme scratching, then replacing the disc is likely your only choice. If the disc is from the incorrect region or from another country, you will have to obtain the correct region. Returning the disc to the retailer for exchange may work.
Non-Disc Related Errors As mentioned, there can be some Disc Read errors that have nothing to do with the disc at all. In this case, it's time to troubleshoot the Xbox.
  • First, simply try to reboot the machine. Often, this will flush the cache or other error and allow the game to operate or the disc to play.
  • Second, try removing the hard drive and/or memory units. Once removed, reboot the console and attempt to load the disc with the hard drive and memory out of the unit. If this works, you can simply shutdown and reinstall the hard drive.
  • Attempt to play the disc in another type of player. For instance, attempt to play the DVD in another DVD player or the CD in a CD player. If the disc plays in these players, you may need to clean the Xbox DVD player.
  • Check to make sure that all air vents are open and are able to provide sufficient airflow. Overheating can cause Disc Read errors, as well. In addition, ensure that the power supply is unobstructed and uncovered. Much like the Xbox 360, the power supply can become quite hot and can cause errors if unventilated.
  • Check for disc tray errors. Depress the eject button and watch the tray extend. If the tray partially extends and then retracts immediately, you may have a problem with the DVD drive. If your Xbox is under warranty, this can be replaced at no charge. However, if you are out of warranty, you can install a new DVD drive on your own.
  • As a note, make sure that the new DVD drive comes with the same firmware as your original console, or you may experience additional error codes after the installation of the new DVD drive.

Hello,

First try to unplug the laptop, then you open it up with a screwdriver, after doing that, remove the hard disk and the RAM and reinstall it back in, then reassemble the laptop back together to see if it will work.

If it does not work, then try to check if the module is still intact, then you insert an operating systems disc into the DVD tray to see if it will run a new window, if it does, then it means the operating system wiped out and need to be reinstalled.

Inserting the disc will solve the problem as the system will begin to run the operating system.

Take care and good luck

My xbox 360 is not reading discs. it dosnt seem to even register that there is a disc in it

Hello! if the console behaves as if there is no disc present in the disc tray, then most likely the drive was not able to detect the media inserted due to the lens was mis aligned. Becaus of the spinning motion of the drive it creates vibration because of these moving parts. It is a risk tearing down the system and re-aligning the lens, you can call Microsoft Xbox Support for it to be fixed and its $159if it's out of warranty.

Xbox Disc Tray Loose

If you are comfortable with taking apart your system, I would advise taking the case off and then finding the dvd-drive, removing the case on that and simply tightening the screws on the tray. Don't tighten them too much, but make sure they are snug. Then test to see if it still wobbles and it should be fixed. If you are not comfortable with taking apart your system you will need to find a repair shop that can do it for you.

DVD/CD tray will not load

With the R800, you must slightly open the paper feed panel door, lift it vertically about an inch and then lay it open horizontally away from the printer. Without doing this, there is no way to insert the disc tray.
