Question about HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Officejet 6500 wifi drivers lock up my computer

I have 2 Dell Dimension 4700 pc's at work (intel p4 2.8ghz HT cpu, 512 mb ram, 915G intel onboard graphics) and I recently purchased an Officejet 6500 wireless printer. I installed the drivers on my internet computer, and everything works great without a hitch (printer attached via usb).

I installed the drivers on my non-internet computer, which I have connected to the printer via ad-hoc wifi connection, and that works fine as well. The problem is that it is on this computer that, after installing the drivers for the printer, it has been locking up at random intervals and forcing me to restart. This really wouldn't be a problem for me, because I am used to program glitches on computers, but I use quickbooks to manage my company's finances.

It just so happens that quickbooks saves everything you do, as soon as you do it (practically every action you take) so I am glad Intuit has the forethought to counteract issues like this.

I really don't want to lose the functional wifi printing because of my office layout, but if this issue does not get addressed I will have to eventually uninstall the hp drivers and hope it solves my issue, that in my year of working here has NEVER occured until I installed the HP drivers about 2 weeks ago.

My system says, (RAM) radon access memory low cpu intel (r) pentium 4 cpu, version 2.80 ghz. RAM 256 mb. What can I do to resolve this problem. Dell 4700 dimension

Windows XP requires a "bare-minimum" of 128MB of RAM, works "OK" with your 256MB of RAM, if you don't open too many programs at the same time, and if you close/re-open Internet Explorer about once an hour of usage.

But, Windows XP would be _much_ "happier" if you added 256MB or 512MB of RAM, because it is telling you ("available random access memory is low") that it is using all the RAM.

Add more RAM -- your computer will run much better.

I have a dimension 4100, and only have 512 in ram because it only has 2 slots, is there any way to use a bigger stick to increase ram?

Yes, if only one slot is being used you can install another 512 MB of ram which will give you 1024 MB or 1GB. If both slots have 256 MB in each one then you will need to just buy a 1GB strip of Ram. Go to the link I am posting and let them scan your computer. They will tell you exactly what you can install and the price. This is a site I use all the time and it is reputable and safe with good prices. This will require a download of the scanning tool which is safe. Allow the download. http://www.crucial.com/

It is lagging for certain games like World of Warcraft. I checked bios, and in only allow for 8 mb of the CPU to go to it. How do I allow more ram to be used?

It configures the system memory allocation reserved for the integrated video controller. Settings are 1MB and 8MB. The most effective solution is disable onboard video and put any Radeon 8 series with 256 or 512 MB RAM, they are cheap now and WOW will be fine, I confirm because use the Radeon 8600 512 MB card. Your computer has PCI Express slot and any Radeon fits perfectly onto it. Good luck!

RAM

You may have bad or incompatible Ram . Verify that the memory you have is compatible. .

Machine name: Dell Dimension 3000
CPU options: Intel Pentium 4 or Intel Celeron
Chipset: Intel 865GV Chipset
HD Bus: Ultra ATA/100
Front Side Bus options: 800MHz FSB
Memory Speed options: PC3200 DDR400 184pin SDRAM DIMM
Special notes: The Dimension 3000 has two different bus speeds each of which takes different memory. You cannot mix the speeds.

Take the memory out and install one at a time. This way you can verify that the memory is indeed working. If you find a bad one, replace it.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Memory detected/Memory failure on Dell Dimension PC

So basically the computer does not start. Because I am not sure that is what you are saying.

I think from my understanding it is an issue with vista rather than with the computer. Somehow the new driver has put your computer in sleep mode. The computer of friend of mine starts by itself.

Another I want to say that the memory cards are fragile they can go bad. The way you touch them it is important.
