I have a Sears shop vac.... i tipped it over this morning and the filter came off. No big deal, but there was a plastic or PVC cup inside, and i can't figure out whether the opening of this cup should face up [ceiling] or face down [floor]. I can't find my manual around, so i need help..... seems like it's leaking dust from the out port now, so.....?

You may need to better describe the cup on the filter, but if it has a handle on it, it's the end cap. The handle part will face the floor and you should be able to screw the cap on, securing the filter.

How do I remove the filter from a Rigid 4 gal portable wet/dry vac

James the attached link/video shows filter just pulls off. I also put a link to the manual and it show the filter held on with large plastic nut, which would have to be removed first.

I have a 6 gall wet dry shop vac bye rigid . do i need a foam wet filter on the inside or will it work properly without the filter on i need it for water only. people in the store said the paper filter was...

Always use the foam filter when using the Shop Vac, keep your filters clean and it will operate more smoothly. When sucking water I usually take the foam filter off as well as the cylinder filter

Older model shop.vac parts/owners manuel

Hi, I know on my Craftsman shop vac 2 different sizes of vacs that I use, I try and stick to the craftsman filters, but you can use other brands if they are not available or you want to save some ( $ ) ? As far as a manual for this vac, more then likely you will have to go to the maker and distributor as Sears, O.C.Hardware also sell there products. You may have to go with a manual that is the same peak H.P.and gallons that covers all different makes and models. Filter wise, make sure you have the right ones on or off when using the wet or dry pick-up settings.
Sincerely,

Which new model replaces this model #11622612200

Ron, Kenmore assigns model numbers pretty much sequentially as they receive new inventory. There is no cross reference anywhere in the industry for their product except in their catalog. If you want to compare features you must do it that way to find a similar vac. If you are very luck you may find an experience Sales rep at Sears.
If this is a Kenmore canister , as they age the hose and wheels and wand connections break down. For a better designed or improved vac, look at a professional vac shop and look at all the spots which broke down on your old one. If there are feateures you like make note of them too and you should find similar features on a pro brand or at Sears.
One more thing, don't buy a new vac based on amperage. Amperage is consumption of power NOT output but its a big deal to advertise that way. it's only a numbers game. A 12 AMP vac motor with its suction fans removed is still a 12 amp motor, it just has no suction. Anyone who tries to sell you a vac based on amperage does not know there business. Best of luck. For a lighter easier running vac, better design look at Sebo , Miele, etc, as well. The Europeans are far ahead in design and filtration and durability

Old shop vac

Hi,
Yes there should be a filter fitted onto the top section.

For suppliers, it would be cheapest to find your nearest stockist, or buy online and have it shipped. It's still current stock - so spares should be readily available.

Sears stock it -

I have a shop vac, and id like to use it to **** up water. do i need special parts or what exactly do i have to do to use it for that purpose?

the machine should have a filter inside if it looks like a big foam sleeve than your ready to go, if it takes a paper bag as well or a paper sleeve over the big foam sleeve you want to remove them ( not the foam ) because the paper would fall apart and make a big mess in the machine.
